Sensible article from the Ugly Inside discussing the crazy story going the rounds that United want to swap Depay for Mane. Do United want Mane....other than in the mind of the media. I like him and be happy to keep him, but is he good enough/consistent enough for the ambitions of United.

It wouldn't be the biggest surprise to me if Mane was still here next season. Saints, I think, have made it clear over the last 12 months that we only look to sell if the player has a year left on their contract or we are offered ridiculous money. Mane's form has been average this season so it would be a gamble for a club to offer us big money. Have the big clubs been bitten once to often with these gambles? We will see.
 
Mane may be here next season, but can't see Wanyama being here....unless no one makes him a decent offer and he re-signs for us (unlikely). I think we are now seen as a solid good PL team, which (with all the money available) will make us attractive to all but the very best players. We must expect a couple of players to leave each season, but that happens to most teams. I think we can keep all the players that we want in reality, but we may let some go because of financial considerations (stupid money or entering their last season) and if they are disruptive in any way. I think we have no need to fear....we will start next season with Ron in place and almost all of the present side.

Utd want him and have asked us about him more then once. If Utd want him enough he will be gone. I would ask for Depay and £15m. Koeman would sort Depay out.

Too much money in the Prem for big clubs to care about a few failures.
 
Just back from Central London. Managed to get the best part of half an hour chatting one-on-one to José and Ryan.

Lots of interesting stuff covered (business, Saints and Euro 2016), and as and when it goes out there (papers, websites etc.), I'll make sure to flag it up.

Suggested wages for every Saints player...quite a disparity in some cases. How can you survive on only 10K/wk<laugh> Of course this is pretax....so our share via their tax bill must be tasty. I suppose the disparity can be used to encourage signing a new contract for players we want to keep.

Talking of which....I saw a blog yesterday suggesting 5 players we should shed in the summer: SKD, Stek (who remember is a loanee anyway), Wanyama, Mane and Long. The blogger didn't list what drugs he was on at the time.
