What's the business, something they're investing in? Q's Ryan: after several years of being loaned from club to club whilst at Chelsea, it seems from a fans view that you and Southampton have been good for each other. Do you think you'll stay here for a while, or do you feel you can be playing at a higher level again? Jose: you took a decision to drop a level to join saints for the betterment of your career; it worked. What do you say to team mates who you are looking to leave (past and present) and do you really think you can influence them? Both: From a fans point of view, it really sticks when a player appears to leave the club for money. We'd all probably change our jobs for a few more thousand a year, but so many players change when they already earn enough money to be set for life; why do you think players (as it appears to fans) don't stay longer at clubs anymore?
They're launching a social media app which basically turns normal emojis into football-related emojis, with 35 top European teams (inc. Saints) having their players/managers turned into emojis (plus other bits and bobs related to football) and integrated into the standard iPhone keyboard. Just a little 'fun' thing, really. It's a joint venture with John Terry! He'll also be there.
Interesting questions, FLT. Sort of ties in with something I was thinking of asking, perhaps more specifically to José. He's seen Mauricio leave, but with the 'will he or won't he?' over Ronald, does he think there's a risk of Saints going round in circles as it were? We can't keep a top manager if we keep losing our top players and we can't keep top players if we keep losing top managers. Does he think it's a risky cycle and how does he think it can be broken? (We seem to perform enough to impress outsiders, lose some key people, rebuild, then push on again but then lose key people again. Is it just a case of waiting and making gradual improvements to break the cycle...?)
http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/sa..._City_s_Champions_League_distraction/?ref=rss Fonte talking about the Man City game, saying we can't rely on their CL games distracting them. Perhaps not, but it must help. He mentions our need to get back to keeping clean sheets....I think we are about due one...or two....or three.
Is this a pyramid scheme? Jose, how do I get abs like yours? Jose, what conditioner do you use? Jose, what do you smell like? Can I smell you? DTLW, Will you be asking any European championship related questions? Ryan, do you see centre back as a potential role for you further along in your career? FLT took all the sensible questions
Ouch! I won't be speaking to John Terry, anyway. He's refusing to talk about football tomorrow night.
http://sportwitness.ning.com/forum/...can-happen-southampton-signing-on-possible-qu Cedric on break in Portugal....you apparently get two days off if you win. Says he is still learning and adapting to the EPL, but is happy here.
http://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/southampton/news/42696/ Sensible article from the Ugly Inside discussing the crazy story going the rounds that United want to swap Depay for Mane. Do United want Mane....other than in the mind of the media. I like him and be happy to keep him, but is he good enough/consistent enough for the ambitions of United.
That's why I carefully said he couldn't match their ambitions.....he could easily be good enough for who they actually are at the moment.
