Various articles on NewsNow (I know!) with Manure Media celebrating that they are going to get Mane for a reduced fee because he is struggling to get onto the pitch and is playing poorly when he does........ WHAT? Are these big clubs stupid?
One decent season and one disastrous season and he is going to Manure?
Unbelievable Geoff

Hello mods - you've seen the reaction! Any response!? Or is this a social experiment :)
The reason the mods agreed the restriction was to stop the Summer Rumours thread being filled with unsourced and completely unsubstantiated rumours. I've just had a quick skim through last summer's thread (which, by the way, ran for 6 months and went to 344 pages <yikes>). As well as the unsourced stuff, there was a lot of off-topic and tangential stuff, plus the usual discussions about the direction the club is going, whether it was being set up to be sold, etc., etc. Perhaps some of this needs to be kept off this year's thread as well, as it tends to distract from the main business of the thread.

The mods are still talking about this summer's thread and nothing has been set in stone. There is plenty of time, over 6 weeks in fact, before the thread will start, so we will continue to listen to your feedback. What we want to try and do is allow people to post genuine rumours (if that isn't an oxymoron) and keep some of the more ridiculous stuff out, as well as trying to keep the thread on-topic as much as possible. We just need to find the right formula to achieve that, so we welcome your views and constructive criticism (not just saying it's bollocks, Jasper!). In the meantime, don't panic!

Thanks Chilcs. I personally think that rumour and discussion are the grist to the forums mill. As long as that's remembered, we'll all be fine! I don't honestly think that a long thread is a thing to panic about - to me it's the sign of a lively, engaged forum.

Yes, we could do without pages of punnery, or the major off-topic deviations, but in this case I honestly believe if it ain't broke and all that...

Let's stop the puns and off-topic posts then :emoticon-0100-smile
