Brilliant. FFS.

Hopefully this is just one side of the story and there is no interest from Wilcox and club. I'm having a bad day so feel particularly angry about this even though it hasn't/hopefully won't happen. I didn't think I could dislike the big clubs/United any more than I already do.

Disclaimer: when we become a big club one day, I reserve the right to forget this post and lose all humility and I hope we **** on everyone below us like we've been shat on for so many decades.

Only concern would be like last season when what’s his name went to Chelsea and we are left with no football people at the top level. Could argue that is what led to Jones and Selles being appointed and cost us relegation.

This season is very different in that we aren’t going to be changing manager so if he were to go now it wouldn’t have too much of an immediate impact.

He’s not been here long enough for me to really give much of an opinion on him as a DoF

Yeah seems a bit of an overreaction to me to this news. Hardly think it spells imminent disaster.

Maybe not but he's been fantastic for the club and needs to be replaced with the right person.

No doubting he’s been good but what have been his main things he’s done (in his very limited time)?

Off the top of my head:

- appointed Martin
- signed Charles
- signed Manning
- signed Stewart
- signed THB, Holgate, Downes, Brooks and Rothwell on loan
- got decent fees for most of our outgoing players

As I say he hasn’t made many mistakes, but I’d argue that Stewart, Manning and Holgate probably were mistakes, or definitely can’t be considered in the “fantastic” category anyway. Charles is in the average category for me at this current moment. Getting THB was very good with the option to make it permanent, and Downes was also a very good signing for this level. I think he’s done the right thing by leaning heavily on loans to try and get us straight back up rather than spending loads on permanent signings

Obviously the direct comparison are Leeds and Leicester as they came down as well, and Leicester had a bigger fall than we did based on what they had been achieving in recent years so the whole “turned round disappointment of relegation” applies to them more than us I think. You could argue that we have had years of being ****, where as they only had one year so easier to rectify the mentality there than here, so credit to Martin/Wilcox for that.

You can argue whichever way you like about who appointed the better manager between Martin, Maresca and Farke. I’d say we got the worst of the 3 but it’s not like any of them have been bad so good appointments by all 3 clubs. You could say that the fact that all 3 of us got it right with manager shows that it wasn’t that hard or we all have very good people calling the shots.

Basically I have no idea how good Wilcox is/will be long term. He has made good decisions in his 2/3rds of a season here, but in comparison to the rest of the league he has been dealt a very favourable hand

Quite possibly, remember they've managed to get Omar Berrada from City already.

Had to google him.

Wilcox is British, and an ex-player, so I think he would (should) respect the traditional rivalries more, plus he was working with City for a lot longer.

But yeah, money and ambition and all that. Couldn't really blame him.

Yeah he's done well so far but it's still very early into his time here. These roles are better judged over a long period imo.

You could also argue that this shows we're appointing the right people too.

Is that the same Stuart Burt that ****ed up in the league final between us and Man U?
