How did they come across. Did you get the impression there was a clear/sensible plan?

They came across really well. Martin has done the same at previous clubs. They definitely have a clear plan. I’ll leave the sensible part to your own judgementHow did they come across. Did you get the impression there was a clear/sensible plan?
The answer given was that the idea is to be solid and play in the same way from corners every time so no one in doubt (subs coming on etc). Choose not to have players on the posts as they deploy 4 to take the main attacking zonal areas. 4 to mark their 4 best threats, 1 on the short corner and 1 to roam/attack edge of the box. Nothing about offside/on the line tap ins etc. He didn’t decry the merits of leaving men up top for the break just that our choice is not to do that and keep to the solid formation described above for continuity. So the tactical session tonight was pretty good. Russell Martin passed over my pre submitted question on defending corners to Andreas the set piece man!
Turns out the Overground line's ****ed as well so I'm going to drive and walk. Found somewhere to park about 15-20mins walk away. I won't be wearing any Saints colours though!Don't think there's an underground station there mate. Only overground, though that might not be affected by same engineering works.

Maybe you could sing a song about Flynn Downes on the walk![]()

Knees Up Brother Downes.
I know it was a club PR Job but I came away with a better understanding. That doesn’t really however change anything. In my opinion RM has to prove he can deliver a better result than his average career finish places. At least this site is not as negative and anti RM as Saintsweb! How did they come across. See my earlier post for thisI want to know what the set piece man said.

Nice one Chilco, personally don't think, given the dubious management decisions over the past few years, that an immediate return to the PL would be in the best long term interests of the club, we need to improve and consolidate. Would like to make the play offs but am apprehensive about returning to PL in 2024Time for a bit of morale-boosting.
Saints have 20 points from 12 games, and are more than a quarter of the way through the season. If we carry on at this rate, even allowing for a couple of bad runs like the 4 losses in a row, we will finish with around 76 - 80 points. In every single season that the Championship has existed this has been enough to make the playoffs. A couple of seasons 80 has been enough for automatic promotion.
Last time we were in the Championship in 2011-12, we were promoted with 88 points.

I know what you mean, but we'd lose a shedload of good players if we don't go up first time.
Certainly we'd lose KWP, Sulemana, Charly and Adams. Not sure who else though. We'd get 50m for that lot.
Plus obviously Downes, THB and Fraser returning to parent clubs. Maybe could convince them to stay.
KWP is the only one who is irreplaceable on current form.
Yeah, but that's half the current team...and the best part of that too. It wouldn't be pretty.
