Stop ****ing asking if we're getting another keeper - that's already been answered with a resounding NO. <doh>
TBH Tom, l really struggle to understand all the negatively about GB. He has been continually let down by the players in front of him. All four goals at the weekend could not be attributed to him.

What a waste of time that seems to have been. Bunch of saints fans who seemed more interested in indulging themselves and enjoying the sounds of their own voices rather than asking proper questions

If they are going to do these they surely need to pre-screen the questions. And if they already do…blimey
I don't know, I was quite reassured that the club is back in good hands. I've been left in absolutely no doubt that Wilcox will be fantastic for us. Some of the questions were a bit stupid but I think it was worthwhile on the whole.

I appreciate this view. Although I always thought Semmens came across well and it sounded like we were in good hands. Never had that much time for Steele however

See, I always thought Semmens was a twat. Your right on Steele though. Fans were a nuisance to him.

From Semmens comments about being "grateful" to be in the PL, to moaning about how much he sacrifices to be paid to watch saints every week. The way he came across really irked me.

He did a steady job through the choppy covid waters, in fairness, but I wasn't exactly upset he left.

In fact, if Semmens was still here, I bet he'd have sold Tino for 12m and Lavia for 20m because we cant stand in these players way when big clubs come in for them.

There's a real confidence in the current setup I've not felt since the Koeman days. Wilcox especially is a very impressive man.

I guess I am talking about how Semmens came across basically more than a year ago. Before this forum last year where he did the whole bit about how hard it was for him and how hard it was for us to compete etc.

He didn’t always strike that tone

Steele is an accountant. And one with limited experience in football. There is a reason you don’t put someone like that in a prominent position in a football club. And especially not a fan forum. Although it does intrigue me that he was at least somewhat involved in signing off on us massively overpaying (especially in wages) on dross. Although the newer people have done that too since we apparently boosted Bree up to 30k per week. Surely he was only only 20% (if that) of that before his move and wouldn’t have needed that much of a boost to move

Hopefully most people are prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt. Especially in the transfer market. You can tell how scarred some fans are by interpreting “Downes is too ill for his medical” as “he’s backing out”

<laugh> Yeah that was me.

I think Downes is a really good player and I’m very surprised we are signing him. He would improve a few PL teams in my mind

If you were a player you’d love to play for Russell Martin
By happenstance, I know someone who played for him at Swansea and is still there. They spoke so highly of his interpersonal skills particularly. At one point said player was out of the door mentally and there seemed no way back, but Russ sorted it and they had a good season together.

Yes, I think he is the right person for us at the right time.

Also, what a word happenstance is. We should use it more often.

That’s got me thinking about which (based on what I have heard about him). The promoted three are on that list. And probably Wolves and Bournemouth. This is based on the line ups at the weekend (so not accounting for injuries or new signings not yet ready). On the fence about Palace and Fulham. That’s 5-7 which is indeed a fair amount

Sounds like that might have happened here as well. It has come out that some people who were adamant about leaving now are not. Just hopefully they are the ones we want to retain rather than those we want to move on
