Picked this up from a Guardian article about Starmer’s approach to the next General election. I think this describes RMs tactical approach rather well

(n.b. Fabius was a Roman General and the Fabian Society was named after him)

There’s a modern trend of not liking one area of someone’s life and extending it to discount the good bits. Like judging a 19th century person by 21st century mores and discounting their contribution to medicine, education etc and concentrating on opinions commonly held in their lifetime.

Not quite the same thing, but I prefer to remember Matty and Rickie for their contribution to our club and all the happy memories. No one said footballers had to be brain boxes. :)
