Depends if being 'successful' is your primary reason for following the club I suppose.

Not sure why changing our name if that scenario ever happened would be such a big deal. I agree in an ideal world then we would have ML and NC here still controlling things. I wouldn't be against us becoming Red Bull Saints.

Each to their own mate but it's a huge part of our identity to me. We represent the city and carry the name of said City. We've got songs relating to that name that have been sung for decades. 'We love Red Bull Saints, we do' or 'We are Red Bull Saints, the pride of the South...' etc just wouldn't be the same.

I just think it's incredibly tacky American ****e tbh.

All imo of course, but I think the name of our club is as much our identity as wearing red and white is and I wouldn't be happy about losing it, even if it brought success.

Red Bull GmbH are an Austrian company.

Is that in response to me? Yeah I know that, I just think sporting club names like that sound very American.

"Now here we are in the third quarter and the Red Bull Saints have a place kick following an infringement by the North London Gooners number 17. It's around 25 meter's away from goal however, so will need to be hella special to beat the goaltender from here. Now, all fans in the bleachers turn their eyes up to the big screens while we go to V.A.R - sponsored by Budweiser"

Libby,

I just think Red Bull would make a much better job of running Saints than the present owner. Rb Leipzig are no mugs when they are on the pitch.

I'm new here and didn't mean to offend anyone.

I'll keep quiet on this subject.

Mate there's no need to keep quiet, I've enjoyed your posts since you've been here. You'd have to be very deliberate to offend me <cheers>

This is all hypothetical and I agree that they'd be a far better proposition than Gao for running the club. I wouldn't necessarily have any opposition to them running the club either, just the changing of the club name I wouldn't be comfortable with (which I think is against FA rules anyway).

Moot point really, an interesting chat though at a time when there's not a lot to discuss other than how **** we are, just be grateful it's not var <laugh>

We are probably the most American team in the UK anyway. Most people refer to us by our nickname rather than city name like the American teams.

Next logical step is to go all out and drop the Southampton bit and just leave Saints. RBS sounds like it is destined to fail though
