Well, if you really want an answer it's because the Premier League sold its soul to SKY which means they can move whatever fixture they want [within reason] and that the armchair observer has far more influence over what happens than the stadium supporter. I've said it before - everybody needs to turn in their SKY subscriptions if stadium supporters want to be important to football again. And if they did it overnight, Rupert Murdoch would instantly become a lot poorer, and that's no bad thing.
Getting rid of Sky won't make fans suddenly be important to the PL, don't see why they'd suddenly give a **** when someone else will just fill the void.
Oh I think it would make a big difference, espeically if the supporters said that they were doing it so that stadium supporters voices could be heard. And as to 'filling the void', who is going to do that if nobody buys?
If you like seeing some of the best footballers in the world playing in the Premiership then you have to put up with Sky's control on things. Personally, it doesn't affect me when we play but for some who work Saturdays it might be a bonus. Just because Sky is owned by Murdoch it seems to cloud some people's opinions.
I mean in terms of another broadcaster filling the void. You're never going to stop worldwide sales of sports packages.
It's weird though cos I'm sure everyone loves watching us on TV but doesn't want games moved.
I prefer a Saturday 3pm myself, espescially for aways, but don't mind as much when it's games like Watford or Burnley.
It's when they **** around with the long distance games that annoy me.
i think if they stopped screwing around with the day and start times everyone would be reasonably happy.
If I was still a supporter I would much rather the 3pm start on a Saturday and 7.30pm start on weekday matches. But that's the traditionalist in me. What I don't like are the staggered start times.
Back in the day [1970's] there was a small shout for 2pm start times on a Saturday. That suited me down to the ground because I often spent loads of time waiting around for 3pm, and in winter the floodlights wouldn't have had to be turned on until much later. I believe I was having my first thoughts about the environment even back then.
