Agreed. Return home to Japan, sign for a top club, or stay. But, don't go to the arse end of football wilderness for the money my friend, it won't buy you happiness.
Nonsense. He already earns a fortune. All professional footballers at this level are multi-millionaires. If you can't set up your family on that, then you are a useless, stupid, greedy human being.
I agree to an extent, but there are levels to it. Setting up your family with £5m in the bank is different to setting them up with £10m/£20m. It is impossible to know what you would do unless you are presented with that situation. Going and playing in some obscure league for a **** load of cash for just a year or two is obviously appealing, look at how many players have done it in the past when presented with the opportunity.
That being said I didn't realise Yoshida was 29, I thought he was older. He may want to play at a higher level for another year or two before pursuing that.
That's true and I understand how most dippy football players have their thick heads turned, but Maya is cut form a different cloth (I hope).
At 29 he is at the peak condition for a football player, and could have so many good times over the next 3 or 4 years. Going to Saudi, playing in a bullshit league, just for a bit extra money. Madness. Every time a player does it I lose respect for them.
There are lots of variables we wouldn't know about as well of course. I remember reading an article about when Eto'o went to Russia and was the highest paid player in the world at the time (that team in yellow, Anzhi something) and he wasn't getting a penny of the 300+k a week he was being paid. It was all being sent to a foundation in Cameroon to help build the village/town he was from with houses/running water. These players are presented with very unique opportunities to earn vast sums of money and you would like to think that the majority would be helping lots of people out with the money.
I wouldn't blame Yoshida if he chose that route, as I said before I have no idea what I would do if in that situation. Lets hope one day I somehow blag myself into a position to find out.

I definitely want us to fight to keep him if we end up in championship. He would 100% be my choice for captain.I'd be gutted to loose Yoshie, even if we get relegated he would be top class in the Championship and play a major part in getting us back

Talk of us being interested in Tom Rogic of Celtic. May still be scouting....after all life goes on....but everything depends on where we are next season.....and on who is manager (to a lesser extent).

That Record Sport front page also says we’re still keen on Celtic's Moussa Dembele. Getting either of those would be nice, both would be brilliant.https://www.101greatgoals.com/news/transfers/southampton-move-celtic-tom-rogic/

Another Celtic player to Saints?, Next they'll be calling you Celtichampton.![]()
There's a decent chance Arteta will be the next Arsenal manager, but if he's not, how does anyone feel about us giving him a go?
