Warning: if you buy any SaintsBaubles online for your Xmas tree, make sure they pack them very well. I ordered just one to sneak on the tree (only the wife is allowed to decorate our tree)..... it arrived today with a couple of other bits, just in a grey mailing back. Unsurprisingly it was smashed to pieces! Numpties

I was reading this morning, that Chris Nicholl’s dementia has become so extreme that he can’t be allowed out by himself.
Another victim of heading a football.
Statistically, I have also read that the number of times that the ball is headed, per game, is higher now than in the era of the heavy, leather ball, so there are concerns that despite the ball now being lighter, the more frequent use of the head might still cause future issues with dementia.

God bless you Chris, a great servant to the club and as a Manager gave me one of the most enjoyable seasons as a Saints fan (1989/90). He had the misfortune of following the most successful period in the club's history but his record stands up in perspective.

It’s harder to trace but it also relates to concussions in the game. Concussions turn into PCS when you have continuous, regular mini concussions which you do not properly recover from. How many players in his day (and today) will take a significant knock to the head and then get up to continue playing? Later they then head the ball and continue to damage themselves. All clubs still do it too. We saw it with Bednarek recently where he took a big hit and played out the half, heading clearances for another half hour before being taken off. It’s awful.
