Interesting decision bearing in mind Ralph mentions training in an empty stadium to prepare them just in case the league starts again...
Which wouldn't be happening until late May at the earliest. Clubs are realising they might not have time to resurface pitches in July and August.
Just came across this website on Southampton Heritage, Facebook. Haven’t looked through it yet, but thought it might be worth sharing. https://www.saintsplayers.co.uk/
It seems opinions are widely divided re finishing the season. Yes, no, maybe, under safe circumstances whatever they are.
Personally I don’t think they will start again till July. Then they will end one season then begin the other!
Read a bit somewhere yesterday that implied that rather than a tournament style of things at midlands based grounds, they would just use training grounds of each club-which makes more sense I guess. But like others mention, I’m hugely sceptical if it will happen....
Cummings to Johnson " They are on to your little game mate. We need something to distract the masses. We should start football again then they'll forget all about the mess you have made. They will be so focused on the football that they wont notice all the nurses, doctors and care workers dying. Remember these people lead shallow lives if all they care about at this challenging time is a meaningless game".
I was, it was the best day of my life, 72 years and there hasn't been anything that came close, the Paint Pot was up there and promotion years have all been good, but being there when we won the Cup was the crème de la crème
For those with some extra time on their hands; I've attached a link I found of the FA cup final, seems to be the whole game. Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-vv9-Dxqoys
Ok.... so if they cancel the league, do the points per game thing, or just leave it as it is.... have we got away with it this season...? After a bad start, Danny came to the rescue and then we had a battering and then came good after that mauling, then we were starting to wade through treacle again....? It’s fairly clear that Gao wants out and won’t invest a lot.... but seems like we may finally get Mahaele (??!!) and with the addition of a quality midfielder plus the departure of a few like Rom, Forster, Alien Lucy, etc we may look in decent nick when things restart.
I was a bit young mainly because my older brother never wanted me tagging along.. I remember this poem from the Echo I think... "Lawrie McMenemy Is nobody's enemy He's not a bit trembly about All Saints Day at Wembley!"
