I can't really be bothered to get into this in depth. But making generalistations (unless you have proper data rather than just anecdotal perceptions) is rarely helpful and just tends to lead to stereotypes. Even more important if you're going to start 'judging' other cultures I think you need to take into account external factors. For example anyone who is going to criticise 'african culture' (btw africa is a continent made up of countless different countries, communities, faiths etc etc so talking about it as a monolith is problematic) without considering the impact of colonialism etc is a problem. I'm not even going to engage about what you've said about how other cultures treat women as tbh an internet forum just ins't the place.

Here's some data on one of the subjects Black mentioned:

http://www.economist.com/node/15636231 (Whether you're interested in this debate or not, anyone reading this thread should read this article - it ranks as possibly the most shocking news piece I've ever read)

Note that the article is equally racist (pointing out the truth is racist, it seems) about India and South Korea.

The irony of Saints fans, who have been so sanctimonious about people on this board, not being up in arms about the possibility of this deal is laughable.

I for one will not support Saints anymore if this deal goes through.

So much for all you liberally minded pushers of any story worthy of your wrath. Where is the anger and disgust at what may be happening?

Or do you not care because it is Saints so they are exempt from your disgust?

Don't let the door smack you on the backside on your way out.

<laugh>

What a ridiculous thing to say! <doh>

Players come and go.
Managers come and go.
Other staff come and go.
Owners come and go.

The one constant is Southampton FC... that's where my loyalties lie.

Yeah as much as I'm worried and don't really want this to happen, saying you won't support the club anymore is a bit extreme.

Anything else involving the Chinese and it is all "human rights violations", "suppression".

Chinese buying Saints...............Yay we'll have more money, bring it on.

To say you will stop supporting if this deal goes through is quite frankly ridiculous...........or maybe your not a fan at all?
Players, managers, owners will always come and go.

Not sure there are an awful lot of people who are hugely keen on this happening. Not a great deal we can do about it anyhow, either way.

As TLL says, I support the football team, through whichever period, some of which I like some of which I don't.

Exactly.

In an ideal world I'd like to stay under the ownership of the Liebherrs... but it was never going to be forever. Like I've said I have had a gut feeling that this has been coming for a little while.

Like you say, nothing we can do about it but trust in Kat to find the right buyer for us (which I fo 100%) and support the lads on the pitch. What will be, will be.

Anyway this is my last word on this for now, got a historic night at St Marys to attend.

Up the Saints!

If it was another club and not Saints you would all be straight on your soapboxes.

"All"? I challenge you to find anything I've said about any club takeover, whether Russian, Arab, Malaysian or whomever.

I'm not desperately enamoured of the Chinese but it's the football team I support, not the owners.

Maybe I have it wrong, but aren't you primarily a supporter of Lincoln City, supporting Saints for a reason I am not aware of?
Apologies if I have mistaken you for someone else, but if I do have it right, not supporting Saints, following a Chinese takeover, wouldn't be the end of a football supporting world, for you, which would make it an empty gesture.

Just to correct your inaccuracy I was born in Winchester and my Father in Micheldever. I was brought up here as a young child. I supported Saints (and had been to the Dell several times) before I ever went to a Lincoln City match and only really "co-supported" Lincoln City as I neared the end of my teens.

So way off mark but believe what you want to believe

Yeah, and I think that most of us probably made peace with this some time ago. The writing has been on the wall, and given the price the buyer was always going to be a foreign conglomerate none of us had ever heard of, and probably Chinese.
