Finished 3-0. Targett went off injured. We played a strong side. Pied worked hard...good play all round.
I think that match really showed how playing a few quality players can bring out the quality in the rest of the team. Its why i think having our best youth players either injured, in the first team or on loan has made it hard for the U23's.
Bearing in mind how desperate we are for a proper attacking midfielder, I would like to see Slattery given a few games against teams that are expected to sit back and shut up shop like WBA, Burnley etc
https://southamptonfc.com/news/2017-09-19/gallery-southampton-under-23-stoke-city-premier-league-2 Just a flick through the photos shows how strong a team we put out last night....unlike at the start of the season. Poor old Stoke just caught it. Wonder how many games Pied and McQueen will get this season for the first team....both good players, but may hardly get a sniff.
There really is no reason not to try a different option, the creative side has been pants for most of last season and the beginning of this season
The OG was pretty amazing too....it wasn't pinged back with over much power....any keeper should have trapped that. Guess he took his eye of it as he thought of his next move....except there wasn't a next move.
When we're doing bad it seems none of our teams can even score. Sneak a win and goals seem to be coming from everywhere. Hopefully that club form continues onto the first team next week. (man city u18 are apparently also unbeaten averaging 3-4 goals a game) (Also Kornelius is a brilliant name, i want him in our first team just for that)
