Interestingly, Wanyama's agent (Rob Moore) was on this (slightly old) FA blacklist

I don't know about Wanyama's childhood but I guess if you're an African player from a poor background and your agent has identified your talent and transformed your life and that of your family by getting you a move to a decent-sized European club you're likely to be extremely grateful and want to help them out as much as possible.

My mother always taught me not to judge people on appearances, but I shan't be inviting him for dinner any time soon!

My question is: surely if we signed Wanyama he must have been assured a first team place, so does that mean Cork would be benched or Schneiderlin off. I know people will say we are trying to add depth, however central midfield is arguably one of our strongest areas.

To be honest Cork was one of the players I hoped we would improve on in this window, don't get me wrong, I like him...but when the 1st word I go to in order to describe him is "reliable" you know you can do better.

Not enough goals from midfield is a problem. I would imagine Cork will miss out, but still get plenty of action throughout the season.

If we were to get Wanyama, would it be possible to play Cork, Wanyama and Schneiderlin all at the same time? Or would that just not work. Cork is one of those players that does all the unglamorous work that keeps us ticking but often goes unnoticed or unappreciated.

Our results improved once we got Cork fit...sometimes players do more than is evident to the onlooker. The simple stuff can also be important. Have to trust NC to get best deal or not for Saints...we may fancy Wanyama but he isn't essential. We were decent last season and will be better this season with a couple of additions.

I agree we need someone who will get in the box and beyond our attackers, like Hammond used to, however we have Ward-Prowse and Davis too, whereas we are a lot more threadbare in other areas.

I'd be mighty pissed off as a footballer if my 'dream' move was scupper end by my agent demanding an exorbitant fee. However I don't think Vic's dream move is Saints. That makes me think that were Liverpool/Arsenal to come in for him, Rob 'Gimme' Moore's fee might drop in that instance. Get the bidding war open with Saints, drop your fee when the biggie comes calling.

Maybe.

Possibly if we reverted to more of a 4-3-3 system, dropping the player that occupies 'the hole', back. Not sure Poch will deviate from 4-2-3-1 though.

Wanyama will get you goals on set pieces. He's a real aerial threat. Cork would definitely miss out unless we changed formation. Schneiderlin is the first name on the team sheet as far as I'm concerned and should be the captain. Either him or Lambert.

I don't think we'd want to play the 3 of them at the same time as it would be quite a negative setup, the prospect of being able to bring a fresh legged Cork off the bench on 70 mins to help see out a game would go some way to counteracting those losses from winning positions we kept suffering last season.
