I don't really know Koeman as a manager but I have seen good things. Could somebody his preferred as I have read somewhere that he likes the more direct long ball style. He isn't the Dutch version of Sam is he?

Based on nothing but gut-feel, I think he'll be fine for us. Not spectacular, not as exciting a style as Poch, but a steadying hand and fine. He'll probably fall out with a few people, stay for a couple of years and then move on with us a solid upper mid-table Premiership team. I can't help but shake the feeling that under Poch we were but a couple of players short of doing something rather special though......
Sigurdsson and Hernandez added to our attack would be immense, though a striker of a different variety would probably be needed in addition. Shouldn't cost too much either, though the difficult thing could be wages and whether they'd actually fancy the move to a club not in Europe.
Magath has dropped to 4/1
Only has 3 open betting odds tho.
Why are people happy with Koeman but seem pretty anti-Magath?

What surprises you about that?
At Benfica he performed according to expectations, but not a bit above it. Valencia was a disaster, so was AZ. At both Ajax and PSV he massively benefited from the groundwork his precedessors had laid. His work at Feyenoord was much better than I'd expected, I'll grant you that.
His reputation rests mainly on his abilities as a player, and semi-successful turns at PSV and Ajax for which he was not solely responsible. I hope for your sake that his tenure at Feyenoord means he's significantly improved over the past few years, but I personally wouldn't bet on it.
it's just how things went down. When his predecessor at Ajax, Co Adriaanse, was appointed, Ajax had been (relatively) poor for years, finishing 5th and 6th in the league. Adriaanse reformed the club and its youth set up, introduced a bunch of talented youngsters, such as vd Vaart and later De Jong, to the first team. But results didn't pick up quickly enough for the board's liking and he was sacked. Koeman, to a large degree, reaped the benefits of the changes Adriaanse had set in motion. this later happened again at PSV, with changes Hiddink had set in motion. You cannot just look at these titles and conclude Koeman is great, without bearing these caveats in mind.
Ronald Koeman almost managed to get a Valencia team with Villa, Silva, Joaquin, Vicente, Albelda, Baraja, Mata, Carlos Marchena and Raul Albiol relegated, hes not very good
He took them to within 2 points of the relegation zone, ive already listed the players he had at his disposal, he should have been challenging for the title, a ****** cup that nobody really cares about is irrelevant, to say he didnt do well in the league is an understatement, hes probably the worst manager in Valencias recent history
yes, Valencia was indeed a disaster, I still cant grasp how it was possible to play such rubbish football when one consider the team at his disposal

Dunno if anyone's realised this yet.
