Been wanting us to go for Redmond for 2/3 Summers now. Crazy that he's still only 22.

I blame the damned FM games. Prior to computer games fans just used to exchange views about whether a player was good or bad. Now they are experts on the wheeler-dealing of International footy, seeming to even know how much each player is earning. This means that Shane Long was overpriced and Pelle was a back-up at best in some people's eyes. So long as we don't spend stupid money on a player, I am happy to assume that the board knows more than I do about value for money.
There's a respected website called Transfermarkt [sans 'e' is intentional] too. Makes everyone an expert.

On a scale of 1-10 where 10 is "I'm 100% convinced this guy is going to be our best player" and 1 is "I'm 100% convinced this is going to end up a train wreck" I would give this about a 6.5.

I know there are many people and pundits who like him, but every time I've seen him he's been relatively quiet. Maybe I just watched the wrong games. But it's not like I thought he was horrible or anything. He's a little tricky, and seems to not be much fun for defenders, but it feels like it's just cut inside cleverly, juke a little, bad shot/pass.

He's certainly the kind of player we should be going for in terms of age/position/potential. And the Black Box/Saints scouting have seen more of him and know much more about assessing talent than I do for sure. So I'm cool with it.

I feel about this the way I felt when we got Bertrand, and that ended up working out great. Also feel better about this than acquiring Chamberlain who would cost probably like 15-20m and much higher wages. Not that I dislike Chamberlain, he just can't stay healthy.

Agree in bits about Redmond. I give it 7 on the same scale. Oxo's health problem is a perennial Arsenal one. They just don't seem to be able to look after certain players.

Redmond looks a bit raw to me, but I'm sure the club is certain that he has a lot of space to develop with proper coaching which he will get with us. Similar fee seemed silly when we bought Long, but it doesn't seem silly now.

If Redmond is signed, that means Saints have players with pace to burn. Long, Mane (if he stays) Redmond. And at the moment there is still the guile of Pelle so the Saints attack could be a handful for many a PL team.

It'll be an interesting signing, he's not really stood out that much at Norwich - but who does? Whenever I've seen him play for England U21's he tends to look like the best player on the pitch. Hopefully it's a case of him needing to play with better players to shine.
Very much agree, he has a very good record for the under 21s

He has developed pretty well at Norwich, will only get better with us and Will fit our style.

Not a headline grabber but will be one day as his profile increases.
