Whilst it may be a good idea to put your hand up and say you are available, has any manager got a job by coming out to the press and saying he would be interested.
Joe Batchellor, who rung Yakin/his agent yesterday, has said saints have made no contact with him.
He's a journalist based on the south coast, working for M&Y News Agency - who are regularly published in the tabloid press, if that helps.
He's been covering Saints for the best part of three years now.
He works for the news agency that got the original quotes from Yakin saying Saints would be an interesting opportunity etc.
Thanks. To be honest I'm pretty surprised anyone is willing to take his word as law then. How do we know they actually even spoke to Yakin?
I'm not sure there is much reason for him to lie. It's not like he is saying Yakin will be the new manager, just that saints haven't approached him.
It's the only source for quotes from Yakin saying he'd be interested in talking to saints, and the only source saying there's been no contact. It's a tiny news agency who stand to gain a lot by selling these quotes to papers. Skepticism is absolutely warranted.
Well it'd be pretty libellous if he planned to sell direct quotes which were complete fabrications.
I'm pretty sure he tweeted saying they rung some Swiss people to get his or his agents number. With that in mind anyone could potentially get the number so I'm not sure they do stand to gain a lot. The price of a quotes piece like that to a paper is probably only a few hundred quid. I've done work experience with similar agencies while at uni and I know they don't get that much selling to sun/star/mirror etc.
