Forster is also less injury prone. Boruc only played 20 games in his 1st season and 29 last year in fact 4 of the last 5 seasons have seen him play less than 30 league games. Fraser Forster has played 33 league games or more in every one of the last 5 seasons. Forster is 8 years younger and improving. Boruc won't at his age.

He only played 20 in his first season because Adkins refused to play him as cortese signed him and Adkins was adament he didn't need another keeper

He didn't play much at first because he chucked a bottle at a fan.

I won't say I this is a bad idea but Boruc is a great keeper and Forster I don't know so much about. Boruc missed most of those games last season with a broken hand, which is no reflection on his general fitness. With half our back four potentially leaving this summer I'd want to keep Boruc for the sake of continuity (barring a serious upgrade but I'm not convinced Forster is better at all, never mind a serious upgrade).

And when not in the team he abandoned the club and demanded a move, right?

Well there was the whole bottle incident but that just gave Adkins the excuse he was after.

Im not convinced Forster is better. He is playing in a league that has no competition. He can stand around more than 50% of matches doing nothing in the scottish league as competiotion died in it two plus years ago

No he did not. At that point and time he was not in a position to do anything like that though don't believe he ever has in his career

I am fairly sure that suspending a player due to throwing a bottle at a fan would be in the realms of the administrative section (namely Cortese) rather than the managerial side of things. I am pretty sure that he wouldn't have been playing in the game that he threw the bottle if Adkins didn't want him in the team.

I believe Mr Adkins only survived for a few months after all that. Boruc was brought in over his head and he was not pleased about it.

Not that that had anything to do with Adkins sacking

A keeper that stands around without anything to do but is sharp and saves when called into action, is a better one IMO. A keeper at the top level has to have that mental and physical ability to stay ready when they are not needed mos of the time. Boruc needs serious competition, last season was a joke as Boruc walked back into the team if he was available. If he was being pushed for a ppace he would never try have the **** he did (Arsenal away).

Does the 'B' in Laurab stand for.......well......y'know?

Artur is a quality keeper when he's focused and he's fit (and that often translates to "when he's put under some kind of pressure for his place"). He has the absolute ability to slack off and get a bit tubby when he knows he's not under threat.....

So yes, let's get Forster in and see how that makes Artur react.

Not disagreeing with that but this time he has being Poland number 1 in his head as well. My concern would be Forster signs and Mr Marshall finds his client a new club and saints go back to davis and gazza as backup

There is a discussion on another thread about Real Madrid and how they're going to fit their new signings into the team. They sign a quality player and let the players battle it out for a place in the team. This is professional football and I don't think a guy like Boruc is going to chuck his gloves in if Forster or whoever arrives. He seems like the kind of guy who would relish the challenge and want to prove to the club that they've just wasted a few million quid

If we get Forster I think we'll have Boruc until at least January and at best the end of the season. That gives us time to find a younger keeper with potential to be number two or for dave watson to try and turn Gazzaniga into a professional keeper.

It is known that Koeman does not rate Boruc. I dont think he will chuck his gloves in or toys out pram but i think if he can get a move that suits him he will be off and if not then yes he will do his best to prove he is the number 1 and not the new signing but Gazza aint the answer whatever happens

If we had Forster I'd start him easily. Kelvin still has a playing contract right? Gazza can go. Then Cropper can play for the U21 until we work out if he is good.

Apart from the occasional poor display in the kicking department I don't understand what Koeman could not rate about Boruc. He is a great goalkeeper. I understand that with the transfer fee Koeman would feel obligated to start with Forster and unless he gets injured or makes some pretty big blunders then realistically Boruc will be on the sidelines for a while so if he finds a move he would go for it.
