I'd love to read the comments by Villa fans after Bertrand's spell with them. Players change with each team/manager they play for. Best to reserve judgement until they don the red n white. And green. Ron will get him playing well, very confident of that.

The one thing I remember about Butterfield, was the old guys behind me moaning that he couldn't cross a ball. And literally, just as he said that, woosh in from the byline, a superb cross, straight onto the head of Rickie Lambert, and I'm sure you know the rest.

Think it was Tranmere at home in League One.

I liked Butterfield. Not EPL standard, but we weren't in the EPL. Think a few fans forgot details like that.
I do remember turning round to one of those ultra complaining types once at The Dell in the standing days, after he had uttered those committed words... I could do better than that.

I looked at him with all the p!ssed-offness I could muster and very firmly said, You know what.? YOU COULDN'T.
I didn't swear, I didn't moan or whinge, but it got a huge laugh and he shut up for the rest of the match. Job done. :)

And now, I'm off rambling for 6-7 miles out at Lockerley. SO51 0JT if anyone is curious. See you later.

Dropping into The Star for a beer?

He could do both [just], but he was brilliant at the early cross that tempted the keeper. Good examples are to be had in the home Championship games againt Boro and Coventry.

Yes, he picked out Lambert several times from deep, but I don't recall him skipping passed the opposing FB to the goal line like Fraser did. Both equally proficient at a delivery though.
