This thread is making me feel nostalgic.

Without sounding too Nigel Farage, one thing that made me especially proud about that team and our early PL side was the home-grown/English spine. Even last year, we had Kelvin, Clyne, Chambers, Shaw, Cork, JWP, Lallana, Rodriguez, Lambert all consistently in match-day squads and the majority of them key players. Given Forster's injury, it looks like JWP and Bertrand could be our only English regulars next season.

Nothing wrong with that of course - more a reflection of the state of the PL and the English game that sides higher up have fewer English/Home Nations players. Could we see the first ever Saints team next season featuring no English players? I think so.

No we couldn't as all our left backs are English. :)
