I realize you are joking, but the rumor is that Vilhena's mother is quite ill and he'd like to stay at Feyenoord to be closer to her which is quite understandable and commendable, really.
I must admit I hesitated prior to the joke in fear it was something like that and therefore I was being a little tasteless. If that is the case, then as you say, all credit to him - it's a decision he won't regret too.
Pelle will surely smash his woodwork-hitting record then next season! EDIT: Mystic Nutmeg got there first!
That's fair enough. However, you would expect a Saints fan to quote someone on their team who actually played during the same era as the ManU player, who crossed just as well, from either wing, with either foot, and with less hype.
Good stuff, I must admit I am enjoying all this getting business done early stuff, might have to qualify for Europe every year
I thought Ron would have been part of the negotiating team, but obviously couldn't have been with these 2 signings? Or would have Ron met them a while ago? And on another note....do you know what's going on with Dusan? He missed the last part of the season and has no involvement with his national team...I heard a rumour he has had an op....
It's quite interesting, really. At the top level managers have little to do with the 'negotiating'. Yeah, they're involved in identifying targets. But actually signing the players and doing the deals is a responsibility for Les Reed and Ross Wilson, and also Gareth Rogers. However, where I work with Southend - I can tell you that at lower league level, managers at that level are far more involved in negotiating moves.
Hmm, I've seen a lot of comments saying his crossing is awful.... the following are all from Sporting fans on one thread: "As I said in another thread, great athlete, speed and stamina, horrible crosser. It was exasperating sometimes because basically he got everything to be an amazing RB. Outside the field he is just an amazing guy as well, very good to the locker room, great signing for Southampton. The price is quite acceptable too." "Very glad we sold him. As I said in a previous thread, he was kinda bad this season, horrible crosser and mediocre defending but he was very good 2/3 seasons ago." "These guys are crazy, best sell ever. He can't cross, he can't defend, hope he learns there. He has the speed so evreryone thinks he is good." "Decent on defense. But ****in' awful with the ball, crosses everytime and he's not even good at that." "Glad we sold him. Not the best while crossing to the area. Did some silly mistakes throughout the season, one of which almost cost us the Portuguese cup. Maybe he will prove me wrong." Unfortunately there are more comments like this. Hopefully it's similar to Lovren where Lyon fans didn't rate him at all, but we worked our magic on him and he ended up being a v good signing for us.
It's because he's left. I remember a load of comments saying that lallana isn't very good once he left. My comments came from an Italian scout via a journalist friend so I'm more inclined to trust them. Still, adapting to the premier league is no easy task for any player.
Happy enough with this, without knowing too much about him. Must have seen him play a couple of times as I watched a few Sporting games last year, but don't remember him at all. 2 in, hopefully quite a few more to come
