Why is everyone against Rodwell? He's just sacked the long serving kit man and even saved us money and time by not giving him the lickings of a dog as a send off....
We might not get a top manager in this league but there would be no harm in trying . Smug said the other day the Americans want Dyche. Now thats not to say they would have got him but it speaks volumes about their level of ambition. It sounds like we basically have Rodwell making all the football decisions and look at rodwells cv/ decision making in the past- disastrousWe are in bloody League One man! When will people realise that even if we had the richest owners in the world, practically zero managers with a decent reputation would come to this league. It’s a league for two types of managers: has beens/journeymen; and up and coming managers. Big name and decent reputation managers will not manage in league one! How can you not understand this? Cowley, for this level, is a good appointment. Objectively, yes, he may be what could be described as an average manager. I actually think it’s fairer to say raw and with potential. But what are you expecting? Context is so important and the league we are in doesn’t allow us to fish for the best managers, regardless of money. Cowley would be a decent appointment in the circumstances. So to say Cowley = no takeover is silly.
How do you know we haven’t tried? We clearly tried to get Poyet? Maybe all the top managers rejected us. Or are you part of selection process and know all of this?We might not get a top manager in this league but there would be no harm in trying . Smug said the other day the Americans want Dyche. Now thats not to say they would have got him but it speaks volumes about their level of ambition. It sounds like we basically have Rodwell making all the football decisions and look at rodwells cv/ decision making in the past- disastrous
Pretty embarased by some of these reactions frankly.
Concord Rangers - three promotions up to their highest ever position
Braintree (one season) - took to highest ever league position
Lincoln - 2 promotions in 3 years to their highest ever league position
Huddersfield - took the team bottom of the table with 1 point in 7 games to safety. If the season only took place whilst he was manager they'd have finished 9th.
Forget anything else - he has a record of achieving or even over-achieving.
Is he perfect? No.
But people are acting like he's the worst choice in the world. Grow up.
It stinks of donald and his cronies still calling the shots, so infact this takeover is a waste of time non event. Poor state of play considering whats been spouted on here for months. This is getting ridiculous. You literally can’t jump to either of those conclusions and to do so is idiotic, I’m sorry.
This league is dog ****, and there is every chance that Cowley could get it promoted. In fact, it’s more than likely he could. Considering we were still in touching distance with Parkinson who was horrific.
And again, to conclude that the takeover isn’t happening because Cowley gets appointed is nonsensical. Explain that logic? New owners will have conducted interviews, looked at CV’s, and potentially decided Cowley, having been a success at the clubs he’s been at, and done a decent job in his first championship job, at a very young age, and potentially willing to work under a DoF, is the best candidate. It doesn’t in any way mean that no takeover is happening.
Not with the Cowley's, yer might ,at a push, with Cook. I say at a push. But its not just about the appointment is it?, Its to do with giving a feelgood factor, a lift and hope to thousands of supporters who are well pissed offI think the Cowley's would be a good appointment. We need to remember where we are and that's a long way from the premiership at present. We need a get out of this league and then hope we establish ourselves in the championship. Cowley's, Cook etc would be the right appointments for this. And no more three central defenders.
Because apparently poyet turned us down because of wages so it sounds like we aren’t splashing the cash which is what would be needed to attract a manager who was better than league 1 standard to league 1How do you know we haven’t tried? We clearly tried to get Poyet? Maybe all the top managers rejected us. Or are you part of selection process and know all of this?
You don’t know that though. I don’t understand this assumption that appointing Cowley means it was Donald, Methven and Rodwell’s decision? It’s a very realistic possibility that new owners liked a decent manager and wanted to hire him.It stinks of donald and his cronies still calling the shots, so infact this takeover is a waste of time non event. Poor state of play considering whats been spouted on here for months.
In the space of 24 hours or so it's all gone a bit **** really.
Nobody has reported that. Sky reported it was because he didn’t want to come to League One. Poyet’s son suggested on twitter that it had nothing to do with money. So there is no indication we aren’t prepared to splash the cash. By all accounts it’s because the new owners want to preserve their DoF model. Which would suggest the opposite of what you are saying and that the takeover very much is happening.Because apparently poyet turned us down because of wages so it sounds like we aren’t splashing the cash which is what would be needed to attract a manager who was better than league 1 standard to league 1
Whoever comes in has to, nothing else in this league is acceptable. Will he play attacking football?
Confirmation and a full media announcement of the takeover would do for a start.Think we all need to calm down a little, we all have our opinions but ultimately we want the same thing....a successful Sunderland
we can all have our reservations and theories be boring if we didn’t
do the current set up deserve our support nah not really but let’s at least give any new owners and manager a chance ...it might not work out but equally it might just click for us
Worrying. Thought Rodwell, Donald and Methven wouldn't be making these kind of decisions.
