Funny isn't it how sports are different. British crowd in golf/tennis is nowhere near as loud as the Americans but they look at something like football and say the crowd is mental. They also hate British boxing crowds (especially booing national anthems), but we think nothing of it.
I don't mind rowdy. But apparently a lot of personal abuse is being allowed to be said to the europeans.

Oh my this is unreal. Spieth misses a 30 foot putt by less than a centimetre, then Cabrera Bello putts in from off the green to win the hole! A/S from 4 down going to the last!

Kind of worse when you are only standing a few feet away.

Meh its no different to when people hurl abuse at a footballer when he is taking a corner/throw in. You will always get idiots like that, think its only highlighted more in golf as its seen as a bit of a posh sport and there are obvious moments when the crowd should be quiet.

Do you play golf? It is a lot different than a player being shouted at, at a corner. A lot.

It is also not really a posh sport anymore. Yes there are some exclusive clubs but it is certainly open to many many more people now.

Yeah I do, and I don't see how it is, if a professional athlete is not mentally strong enough to deal with some no mark loser shouting at him in the crowd then he is not going to make it very far.

I agree if they are shouting as he is in mid-swing that it may put them off, but if it is just whilst he is walking to his ball then I really doubt it affects the player that much

Slate me or don't slate, but every American I have ever met have been up there with the most self centred arrogant pricks I've had the misfortune to encounter. Ovbiously I'm not saying "all" yanks are like that because that's not true, but on the whole they truly do believe they are the most superior beings on the planet from my own personal experiences.

The crowds watching this Ryder cup have been shocking , it's a game of golf for crying out loud.

Ok. We disagree a little. Yes they have to be mentally strong to shut it out and that is what makes them stand out, but it is certainly a lot different to a player taking a corner or a throw on during a sport that has constant noise. It is a game that requires a lot more intense concentration than taking a throw on or a corner.

The margin for error is far greater in golf.

There are 300 million Americans. How many have you met to give you that "on the whole?"

I've been to America several times, and every one I've met have been extremely welcoming.
