    Was he the sub who came on at left back? Thought he made some decent tackles especially a well timed one in the box. Although he looks about 12 and a strong wind could easily blow him over.

    Newcastle are favourites to sign Birmingham star Liam Ridgewell.

    The centre-half, who can also play at left-back, is wanted by QPR, Stoke and West Brom, too.

    The Magpies had an August bid rejected for the unsettled defender, 27, when he slapped in a transfer request.

    I will cry if we go for Liam Ridgewell. Not just because we've been linked with Douglas and Vertonghen, but because i'd rather have Perch as 4th choice CB...

    If you're going to buy a player from the lower tiers, it'd better be a young player who's going to improve and has his best years ahead of him. I don't expect that from Ridgewell and don't see the club spending money on him when they could buy an affordable player abroad that they could eventually sell on for profit.
