I've been a member since 2012, but was a luker a lot longer. I don't really post much on either forum. I tend to just read others opinion. I've found I'm reading both forums atm. I totally ignore the wums and they don't really bother me, but I can see why, if you posted regularly it would become tiresome, or if you had targeted abuse you'd soon get sick.

I was regularly banned but accepted it as that's the kind of forum it is.

After one long ban, during the FPP takeover saga, I went back on to state a few home truths, especially to the useless Mods.

I knew that I'd get a life ban but the forum is screwed and, sadly, a shadow of what it once was.

There are some good lads on there, but they have a battle on.

Yesterday, after days of personal attacks and endless bickering on the Takeover thread, a Mod went on to delete dozens of posts and ask people to stop bickering ...

... the very next post, now deleted, was exactly the same

However without the rows and digs there are hardly any posts ...

.... sad when we've been waiting for a takeover all this time.

There was a Mag on there called The Fish who acted out the persona of an upper class toff. He'd use impressive sounding words, often inappropriately, and kept it up for years.

I caught him out one day, and he dropped the act. When I asked why he'd stopped with all the pompous drivel he said that it had 'served it's purpose' ...

... the sad thing was that he actually believed there was a purpose.

In reality the only person he ever fooled was himself

... and see no irony coming on here daily to report whatever I'm saying, a year after I was last on there.

Some come on here to cause trouble then go on RTG to get their backs slapped, pathetic.

Of course there'll be RTG references, there's a few who used to post there, some post on both and this place is continually talked about. There's a few trying to create a 'them & us' situation, to create hostility, but the sensible people see straight through that.

The Rat has just got me banned from there now too. Never had so much as a warning in 18 odd years of posting. I’m now not allowed on for a month for telling him he’s a horrible, mean spirited bloke. No swearing, no abuse beyond that.

I’ve generally always stuck up for the mods and still would as I think it’s a bit of a thankless task but I can’t for the life of me fathom why that cretin is seemingly allowed free reign to be rude and abusive and then the mods always pander to his hammering of the report button (who does that anyway?!).

Mind I think all message boards will start slowing down before long. I must have been about 15 when I first joined the FTM executive club board. I've grown up with smb and been on most of the others that have come and gone (black cat chat, safc world, and I think some others). What I find now though is that the average age of poster seems to be getting older and older. My lasses bairn is 18. Neither him nor any of his mates use it. They're all on Instagram and twitter and the likes. That kind of social media either wasn't around, or certainly wasn't booming when I got into it. When people mention their age on threads there seem to be very few even in their twenties. Boards like SMB that eventually drive decent posters away might regret it because I don't think there's that many younguns coming through to replace them any more!

I used to post on the Sunderland scooter club forum years ago but that succumbed to Facebook.
Your right, them sort of social media sites have killed/are killing a lot of specific forums.

Think I've been on rtg for 10 years but joined another before that.
Might have been the old version of here.
I can't be arsed with farcefook.

In seriousness though I do believe they should be thinking before banning posters at the minute. Particularly for a month and for minor (if any) infringements. January and February are always crappy months but with everything else that’s going on a lot of people are struggling. RTG is a big release for a lot of people. Relatively speaking I’m fortunate enough to have a lot of other things going on in my life but even then I’m feeling at a bit of a loss over the last couple of days without it (the lack of traffic here simply won’t fill the void for me). I’m not suggesting a free for all but perhaps warnings or shorter bans.

I’m a member of both forums though I don’t post much on here. That’s because I no longer see our matches as I don’t use a stream. Not seing the team play means I’m not in a position to give an opinion, so I don’t. I do read this forum though.
I’ve identified half a dozen posters over there that should be banned IMO and have realised that when you take on the mods you ain’t gonna win. However, I have to say, there are many great posters over there, genuine fans and a lot of friendly crack.
The perfect forum doesn’t exist, I’m happy to use both.

I got a ban for losing my rag and arguing with Vauxie - told him a few home truths and he went and complained to a mod - i then told the mod he had vauxie up his arse and boom a week long ban - been on there since 2002 and it was my first ever ban!

Not sure how I get a month for calling someone horrible (with no previous) and you get a week for calling out a mid mind!

Aye, there's definitely a place for both. I always stay out of any "this board v that board" stuff. I like the fact there aren't as many boring WUM/ troll types on here, it's just decent Sunderland fans having a bit crack. I also found it great during the takeover because I don't want to miss anything but the rtg thread was moving too fast. You'd be away a couple of hours and have 10 pages to read, only to find you've missed nowt! This one was much easier to keep up with. But smb does also have a lot of cracking posters, and sometimes the high activity over there is good if you want a few discussions when you're meant to be at work. Both good places, no need to choose or owt.
