If @Brainman is correct it would explain a lot!

I spent days going on 'alert preferences' updating and changing them and unsubscribing from emails because I thought I hadn't done it correctly.

Drove me up the effing wall...

All working fine now.

Yes, perseverance appears to have paid off - or at least sufficient time has passed for the instructions to work. The multiple emails were driving me up the wall!

Did me too I nearly sacked the board off until I sussed how to stop them
 
Controversial I know but...
There is some sickening sincerity for the Rat from people on RTG who would wish death on one for holding differing political views.
The rush to appear compassionate to impress strangers is laughable.

I don't have any issue with The Rat and have had some good discussions with him via the cricket forum and also pm

Edit I also think he may be better posting elsewhere where people respond to the post not the poster

I was just pointing out my concern was genuine as I have only experienced the decent poster he can be and know how good all message boards can be when people need help.

I was warned, by pm, that he has issues so did everything possible to engage with him.

He absolutely savaged me at which point I gave up.

I've watched him, since then, and he has no respect for other people.

I won't post faux respect for anyone.

Still on topic - just. The good thing about this place is that it doesn't have all the WUMs and Mags that are on RTG. Is there a risk that everyone will migrate and it will become a clone?

I doubt it, the mods here seem pretty good on that front and some on rtg appear to have a sense of arrogance that other boards are not worthy of their presence

Aye, quite surprised to see people have a problem with Jarra tbh. You get the odd daft reply but I've normally had a laugh at some of them, and you can tell there's no malice when he posts, I've always felt it's posted in the right spirit. It was years ago on one of the early gold posts (think it might have been the two cats on the shirt effort), think I was a bit pissed when reading it but I had a good laugh when he asked the OP if he'd been injecting heroin, it seemed quite apt given the effort at a song I'd just read. Maybe he's been an arse to others like, couldn't comment on that, but I've never noticed it
