Sorry but that is bullshit. You give Rose a raise to say 100k a week then now Jan, Toby, Erikson, Dier, Alli, Kane, Son, Lamella, etc, etc are all going to want similar wages or another boost to maintain parity. All of a sudden your wage bill has exploded and will keep expanding as the bigger clubs just bandy around even bigger wages to compete in hovering up the better players. For us that is the road to bankruptcy and financial meltdown. Nothing happens in isolation, there are always repurcussions.
Fixed. That's fine. We know we're in a similar position. They're not forced to sell their players to Feyenoord and PSV though, are they?
Have we not learned? If Tottenham double their wages, what will Citeh do? Can't we see how have we got to the point where competent footballers are annually paid the cost of building a school? As soon as one club breaks the wages ceiling, it's only a matter of weeks before others start throwing our money at another recipient in even greater amounts. Whatever the answer is, I'm pretty sure it's not more of my money!
Accounts (most recent) to June show income of £210M, gross profit of £63M, net after tax of £33M. The wage bill is reported as £100M (48% of turnover). Arsenal wages 55%, Everton 69%, Liverpool 69% (Utd only 45% incidentally). There seems to be scope to increase wages on these figures. I don't know how the stadium financing impacts on this, but it does appear to be a issue of choice to have the wages structure Spurs have. Other comparable teams operate a different wages policy.
You haven't answered my question, LDL. How much more should be given in wages to the current Spurs squad ??
Some are already on big wages - Kane reportedly £120M plus bonuses. Some players obviously have to be kept sweet. Some are happy with their lot. Only some are discontented - maybe only one! And you're assuming that every player would be holding the club to ransom, claiming that City or Chelsea would double their wages. That won't happen either. The fact is that even City, Chelsea, Utd, Real Madrid, PSG etc wouldn't buy up all Spurs players if Spurs were willing to sell. They can't buy up every player. They might not be interested in players in certain positions, might look at other alternatives, might not feel that the capital outlay plus wages is worthwhile. Age, injury records etc are factors too. And there is FFP, of course. The unrest from Rose appears to come from a belief that he is substantially underpaid. The club can still have a wages structure, but there is pressure to pay all its better players at the higher level - £100k p/w or thereabouts. Some players are in this bracket at clubs not as rich as Spurs. An extra £20M is increasing 10 players' wages by £2M a year. I'm not suggesting that should be done in one go. But it shows that raising the wages cap to 60% of income effectively will not make the club insolvent, but does make it competitive in the wages market.
Don't normally post on hear but thought I'd have my say. I don't know what you're all getting upset about. Danny rose is just another footballer pimping himself out to the highest bidder. Loyalty? Don't make me laugh that only comes from fans ready to pay way over the odds for this over hyped product called the premier league. I stopped going over spurs years ago, they'll always be my team but I got fed up paying for over payed under achievers, and don't get me started on sky. Anyway get shot soon as. There'll be some young kid waiting in the wings to fill his boots somewhere. On Daniel levy, he's doing a great job, exciting team to watch great training facilities and a fantastic new stadium. Good luck spurs I'll be keeping an eye in the background.
As anyone with an ounce of intellect already figured out for themselves so didn't need to have it spelled out for them, so no wonder you're having difficulty with it, nothing invalidates the idea that a player "needs" to be paid six figures per week than somebody with twenty full Germany caps, two Bundesliga winner's medals and a FIFA Confederations Cup medal being on €10,000 a week.
Have you considered the fact that these things might actually be important to players, more so than money. Rose did mention not wanting a 15 year career with nothing to show for it but you have all fixated on the "paid what I am worth" bit.
How much more money would we have if we won the league and got to the semis of the CL? About £20 million. Share that out between say 8 players that gives those players £2.5 mill p.a. each for one year in new contracts for five years. If we don't get to the CL semis and we don't win the league in those next five years we will still need to pay out an extra £100 million that we don't have but would those players be so keen to move then. The players are getting pay rises. Look how many of them signed improved contracts in the last 12 months
I thought themore you earned the more the tax man took from you. Look at the mess Ronaldo and Messi are in.I suppose if you want to act like a pig,Rose,go ahead.See you in court!
There was atime when playing for Spurs was the pinnacle of success....and you stayed! But todays moneybags clubs have screwed that!
