Shame, I'd prefer them to wait until we've delivered a killer blow by dumping them out of the Cup.

I do find it ridiculous when clubs go this route of a modern manager who will supposedly overhaul the playing style, but then sack them very early on because the short term results are disappointing. Same with Chelsea and Graham Potter. So short-sighted. Either back them or don't appoint that type of manager in the first place, go and get a Warnock type if you want short-term results.

I think the problem in this case is all signs are they were going to be relegated under Rooney.

I normally agree but he was going to get them relegated. QPR and Wednesday look like they could survive. Its only really Rotherham thats nailed on probably

I bet John Eustace is looking forward to the call, asking him whether he fancies returning.

Bournemouth stuck fat and are now seeing the benefits. Not even giving him a transfer window is hilarious.

Maybe they were, or maybe with a transfer window and more than 15 games he might've turned it around. Chelsea fans said similar about Potter last season (not relegation obviously but that the results were just unacceptable even for a long term project) and it turned out that neither Lampard nor Pochettino could fix them quickly. It's Birmingham to be fair; they finish about where they are now every season.

Issue is whilst they have been perpetually lower table this owner has been talking up the club to return to former glory. They stuck their flag on Rooney and its blown up. Think they had to admit fault before the toxicity turned from Rooney's attention to the owners

Rooney isn't a good gaffer though. The only reason he got that job was because he was a 'big name'

Don't disagree with that but it's almost a separate issue. Not giving a manager a single transfer window is crazy. In fact, sacking him as it opens is bonkers as you're going to waste a chunk of the window finding his replacement.

When he comes here to work alongside his sidekick he can help perfect the possession style football that works so well in opening up opposition defences and continue the winning run. With about the worst defensive record in the top 12 of the league we can do with him, potato head or not.
