He has never been anywhere near as good as he thinks he is, or his generous (to the point of being ridiculous) contract indicates, often wondered who gave him this particular legacy and why.

I just don't see it like that though - Donald said that, as far as he was aware, Cattermole would be committed to playing if he was still here. I see it as Byrne being the bitch she is and trying to get all of his money.

I loved him as a player but he can't cut it and has been rubbish for a considerable time now. I just don't see his attitude being that of someone who wants paying for nothing - don't think it's in his make up

Agents are a cancer in the game - but the PFA state that all professional players have to have one. Sadly there is a "Right and proper persons" thing with agents - only with club owners. As has been said, agents are up there with taxman, lawyers etc!!

He also said clearly ‘he wants to leave but doesn’t want to leave a penny behind’.

Clear as day mate and indefensible.

I used to think he was great but in recent years his body has given up on him. I never had a problem with his attitude though (apart from question marks about Di Canio's sacking) and if he'd moved on with some class and a respectful message to the fans then I'd have looked back on him fondly. Looks like that ain't happening though.

Best thing for us is to rip his contract up.

He'd be at his level in league 1 and do a job but he's probably earning 800% more than what his level deserves.

I interpret that as he wants to go but won't go anywhere on a lower contract - unless we make up the difference. Kind of think that's fair enough really, he must know his career is nearly done, he won't making big bucks for long.

He's been earning way above his station for years. Fair enough would be him negotiating a new deal here or elsewhere what he's actually worth.

Is it **** fair enough. His contract was agreed based on him giving to the club, he’s been ****, he wants to go elsewhere why on earth should we be subsidising the prick?

If I change job tomorrow I ain’t asking my current employers to keep paying me its cloud cuckoo land mate.

I do a lot more for my employers than this ****er does for SAFC.

Would you? If I was given a 6 month contract and the work dried up (have done in the past) I’d want paying fir the 6 months. Not my fault the employer ballsed up with the contract. I have been paid for not working before as a contractor simply because of the contract length being longer than the project took

But if he's saying he wants to leave, he's breaking the contract so shouldn't be entitled to it being paid up.

If you had directly contributed to the work drying up with your consistent under performance and still wanted your contract paying up then you would be a greedy ****

I understand the argument of an agreement over 5 years at an agreed fee. Maybe, the way to look at it would be....as in what happens with most of us.....you put in sh*t performance at work you get fired....just a thought.

Mate I earn a year what he does in 2 weeks and I have an unreal life.

He can **** off. He either wants to be a footballer or he wants to ransom the club, the little prick.

According to Stu Donald you're going to have to mate. Sad Catts is going down this way. Rubber stamps the end of his career as this attitude rarely results in a successfully football career imo. Struggling to find an example of this ****y attitude favouring them in a sport they profess to love. If his agent is his mouth piece and it clearly is. He's nothing but poison to this club.

If the window closes after his agent's statement and he's still with us, he should never kick a ball for us again. I seem like the only person who understands the term 'the piss take stops here' as 'the piss take stops here'(maybe cause I mean what I say with no compromise and I assume our club will now walk the walk after talking the talk). His representatives have relayed the message he doesn't want play for us and he's not on board with our financial plight. Let him rot I say, we're going to end up paying him anyway. He's made that clear so why give him a sniff of game time? The little chav will end up in Stockton boozer ranting coulda woulda shoulda remembering when he could afford drink in Yarm, by the time he's 34 if we **** him off, mark my words.

Besides, he's too slow for a midfielder at any level now and he's not good enough to slip back into CB. WTF was Bain thinking giving that long a contract? Pillar to post nobheads at out club and a lot of action is need for our owners to back up their gobs and stamp this out and make example of people. Do it with Catts ffs, we've not really shown it so far I know, **** him.

The piss take is his agent asking us to pay off his contract so he can leave on a free. Which we won't do.
    Either
    1. we get an offer through for him and he goes
    2. His agent tears his contract up, we don't pay him a penny
    3. He ends up staying with us, and he is available to play

I don't think he would refuse to play for us, and us letting him rot if he is willing to play would be cutting our nose off to spite our face.

If he refuses to play then yes let him rot, no way should we be paying him off.

He wouldn't dare play for us again Dan. He'd be slaughtered by every fan in the ground everytime he went near the ball.
