Bearing in mind how strong the squad is looking I wonder if Assam is wishing he'd vetoed the move for Snodgrass. He's probably thinking he could have trousered the millions. It wouldn't have helped his relationship with Bruce of course.

Why? Because he didn't have the foresight to see him getting injured?

If fit Snodgrass would play an important role in the match day squad (either starting or from the bench), still a good signing despite the other quality additions.

Robbo for me, yes I know that Brady defended like a Trojan against Liverpool but I just think that we missed the attacking prowess that Robbo brings to our side.

As others have said I wouldn't have a problem with both being included at the expense of HBA.

Even if Robertson had pinged in more crosses it would hardly have mattered with so few often in the box. The gameplan was more to get players behind the ball than push many forward. The one striker upfront was a bigger effect on the game than Robertson.

If we're losing I'd get both on the park.....Robertson's pace and Brady's guile would probably work well together.... plus they can both defend.

This.....coupled with the fact that Snodgrass will be here next season, with HBA and Gaston likely moving on.

Both in a 4-4-2

Jakupovic
Elmo Chester Davies Robertson
Ben-Arfa Livermore Huddlestone Brady
Diame
Hernandez

I think we need to stick to what we do best 3-5-2, however if we were playing 4-4-2 then I could live with your selections, with the exception that I'd swap the positions of Robbo and Brady, Robbo would be completely wasted as a defensive left back, plus Brady is the better defender of the two

After his performance at the weekend i'd say Brady but find it really good if it's Robertson you don't feel as if the teams weakened.

Brady to start and if we do bring Robertson on it still leaves us the option of bringing someone else off and pushing Brady further forward!

Bruce needs to persevere with Ben Arfa. He is gradually improving with fitness and the rewards of getting him playing at his best would dramatically improve our attack.

I think we should play with a 4-5-1 formation against Saints.

Jakupovic
Elmohamady Chester Davies Robertson
Ben Arfa Livermore Huddlestone Diame Brady
Hernandez

It could work.

I expect it to be the same team as Saturday (barring any injuries that we're not aware of) but more of a 3-5-2 than a 5-3-2 this time. That way we'll revert to the latter when they've got the ball but hopefully more of the game will be spent in the former formation.

Talking of injuries, anyone heard anything more about Huddlestone's groin? It's just that I noticed him seemingly overstretch towards the end of Saturday's game and he looked to be in a bit of discomfort although did appear to run it off or just pushed through it for the last few minutes.

Personally more concerned about the right hand side of defence against Southampton. They are particularly strong / tricky / pacey on that wing.
