Don't speak too soon. Your club record fee is what... 15 mill? How many years ago now?
Soon you'll be making a club record purchase in the region of what we've paid, and could end up in the same boat!

I like the off season because it gives me time for my finger nails to grow back.

I was just jesting with NSIS. Personally I think transfer fees have gone nuts this summer. There were a few years where it seemed to calm down a bit, but this summer has seen it ramped right up again. 55m for Cavani, 5Om for Suarez, 35m for Higuain 100m for Bale, Paulinho and Soldado were extremely pricey too.Soldado didn't make it at Real Madrid, but he's been a decent performer in La Liga for the past 4-5 years so there's every reason to think he's equipped to do well in the PL.
But the thing that surprised me about the transfer was Spurs paying £26M (plus decent wages, no doubt) for a 28 year old.
There's an "old" saying. If he's good enough,he's old enough!
28......is that old?Damn,he should be approaching,or in,his prime!....and players usually only stay for a couple of seasons anyway, these days.......
Or past his prime ? In all seriousness though, he's probably got two seasons left at his best. I don't know how much you're paying him, but somewhere in the 80k range ? That's 8.5m in wages on top of 26m transfer. 35m for a couple of seasons, it's not cheap by any stretch of the imagination.

Got to disagree mate, he's not blessed with great pace, he uses positioning instead, so as long as he keeps his brain working, i can't see why he won't last for another 5 years

And he's back in wum mode.
So as soon as he turns 30 we might as well ship him off to the retirement home shall we? Strikers these days can play at the top well into their 30s, especially the Soldado mould where he is not particularly reliant on pace, his positioning and finishing are only going to improve in the next few years.
If he has a good first couple of years for us, there is no reason why he can't have five good years for us.
Ibrahimovic - approaching 32, any club in the world would take him. Raul, Del Piero, Klose, Makaay, Inzaghi, Van Nistelrooy - all were still banging them in at 35 and there are many more you could name.
37 I believeHow old was Teddy when he finished with us, second time round?
Young Spanish people in general tend to take their health and fitness more seriously than those in the U.K. Of course, there are exceptions, but again, generally alcohol is consumed sparingly.
Spanish footballers, likewise, tend to take their professional seriously. I would be surprised if Soldado doesn't prove to be in exceptionally good shape - he probably has been since his youth.
If he remains free is serious injuries, I see no good reason that he can't play at the top level for another 5 years or so.
You've only got to look at Llorente, who hired in his own fitness and nutrition team to get him in unbelievable shape.Jesus... is everyone feeling alright? lots of love here from the rivals!!!
I've seen soldado a few times and thought he looked decent, but is he that good??!! no one's had anything bad to say about him yet. I thought there'd be some WUMS.
fair play lads![]()

All of these players are overpriced imo, but that's the market, one inflated price leads to another.
