Robbie Brady

Not at all Craig. Trust me I want NP to show to me he is the right man to take us back to the promised land within the next 2-3 seasons. All i want is the same as ALL City fans should and that is to be as successful as we can at the same time, hopefully play some exciting, inspiring, entertaining football and show we are not afraid, especially at home.

I think NP has started to realise some of his errors, signing Harper, playing one up front at home, been prepared to drop Fryatt to the bench, all these things has made NP go up in my own estimations of him. I respect him for making these bold decisions to the benefit of the team. I still dislike the way he does not seem to want to give any OLD City players a place in the squad, Barmby and Dawson apart.
That sounds perfectly reasonable and not at all like the 'GOOD manager' reference in your first post which you must admit suggested the opposite.
Anyway - Storm in a teacup, No hard feelings.

He has had to get rid of the majority of the squad for financial reasons!

Whilst I agree with what you say, I still think they're would be other players who this does not apply to, such as Duke, ***an, McShane etc. I know Oli demands the biggest wage at the club now but I am sure others I have named including Ghilas would take a wage cut to stay at City. ***an and Duke would certainly have been happy to stay and I am sure both could still do a job for us, even if Duke was 2nd fiddle to Basso.

In fairness to tigersinhull, his opinions are always structured and defensible unlike some others. Personally I dont agree with a lot of his views (or others for that matter) however as long as they are reasonable and have some sense to them then they should rightly be listened to.

On tigerinhulls points - NP is a good manager, and he has tackled the challange at city very well. He game to a team that had been relegated, losing cash, needing to cut costs and player, and break from a losing mentality. He did this by bringing in good young players, who will be on low paying contract. He addressed the losing mentality by forming a solid defensive unit first, and from that built up the attack. Given the resources avalible this was a hell of a challange.

On the not playing older players front, who do you want him to play? He is playing our most experienced keeper, Dawson would have played yesterday but is injured, would you drop Roseinor, Hobbs or Chester for McShane (who is also injured by the way)? In the middle of the park our experienced option is Harper, you want him to replace Cairney (guessing your call for experience you would keep McKenna in)? You would want Bradey to be replaced by Barmby on the wing (given Koren is experienced), and up front you would pick Adebola ahead of Waghorn (McClean is experienced too)?
The reality is we have a young squad now, personally I would only change McClean for Fryatt, he is a more natural finisher and Waghorn showed on Sat that he is a hard working player who can drop off and create chances.

Gulacsi was brought in to be first choice IMO but it hasn't worked out and Basso has been selected for the last few games (long may it continue). With Basso initially been brought in to be No.2 and challenge for the No.1 there was no need to retain Duke and I agree with NP on this.

***an would not add anything to our current squad

Very well educated response. I personally would leave the team as it is at the moment as we have some very bright promising youngsters. The only changes I would make if available would be Olifinjana for McKenna and Stewart for either Koren or Cairney, but the latter would depend on who I felt were performing better prior to team selection. I think with who we have left of OLD, I would stick McShane on the bench for our defensive cover, Barmby on the bench due to his versatilty. Waghorn and McLean would be starting every week ahead of Fryatt at the moment, not sure where his head is at the moment. He does not look anywhere near as confident as he did pre-season or last season. McLean worked equally as hard if not harder than Fryatt.

On the keeper front, I think we should have kept Duke instead of bringing in the young kid from Liverpool.

Fair point on Oli, do like the way McKenna works though, he is always at the ref having a word, covers the other players well, and generally reads the game. Would be happy with either of those two, or the pair of them together in CM. However think that when Stweart is fit we will see Koren in the CM with Stewart/Bradey out wide.

I thought Fryatt did well when he came on, and just looks more threatening then McClean to me, but cannot knock McClean though.

You are right about McShane, sure he will be on the bench when fit because of his versitility. Undecided on Duke, was a reasonable back up for this level, but think the Liverpool lad was meant to be No1, just not worked out that way

Tbh I never felt confident with duke in goal, and tbh wasn't sorry when he was released. However I do think we should have gone for someone like smithies from uddersfield, or even tried our luck and gone for schmicheal. Or possibly a cut price deal to get Bo back (a good possibility although sometimes he scared me lol) But have to be honest basso has impressed me so far .

He's nowhere near good enough to play for Man Utd, he'd need to improve massively to push to replace Nani, Valencia or Young, with Man Utd youth prospects, the ones who are coming through are ones who Fergie sent on loan to Premier League clubs, I think he makes a decision early on with regards to a player's potential and when they have a chance to make it in the Man Utd team sends them on loan to a Prem team, those who he knows won't make it go the the NPC or lower. With this in mind I think we'd have a good chance of picking him up from Man Utd, our only competition will be lower end Prem teams who may sneak in, like Norwich with Ayala, and beat us to him.

is it that clear cut? beckham and welbeck were both on loan at preston. gibson was at wolves in the ccc. cleverly was at watford in the ccc and leicester in L1.

That's true, Fergie normally sends them to the Championship first, if they do well, then they usually get a season on loan at a PL club the following season. Only those he thinks definitely won't make it at United are sold/released after lower league loans.
