AND the sporting director reinstated. I think there's more to this than meets the eye. If they were unhappy with Edwards, why not sack him after the previous match? Why reinstate the sporting director? I wonder if Pozzo went back on his word of sacking Giaretta after Edwards had already briefed all the players and was told he would have more control. After being undermined, he understandably had some blazing row with management, and is now sacked. That's my guess anyway! It's totally bizarre, why would any manager or player have any faith in what Pozzo says now?
Indeed. I believed it when they said they were taking a new approach. All the noises suggested they were, and frankly they needed to start to build again and do things differently. But nothing has changed, I don't believe anything they say or that there is any long term strategy other than constantly cycle through managers and players until they get something that works for a bit, and then cycle through again as soon as it stops working.

Which is exactly what they've been doing at Udinese for three decades now - I guess we should have guessed things wouldn't change here.
Well sounds like Duxbury got rid of CG but Pozzo has pulled ranked and done what he wants to do .
It is almost as if they have said "Right we will will try what the fans and media want, oops not going too well, back to what we know best"

I think Bilic is a lot more experienced than Muñoz.
On the bright side, we may get to see Bilic and Elton John singing a duet, or in concert together - he is (or used to be) lead singer and rhythm guitarist for Croatian rock band Rawbau. Although i don't think their styles gel too much...

That's the thing, does Duxbury have any authority now? Certainly he doesn't with the fans, but why would Bilic or the players listen to him? We keep saying Watford isn't owned by the Pozzo family, it's owned by Gino, but now I'm not even sure if he's calling the shots.
After all that he said, I do think this leaves Duxberry in a very difficult place. There is lots of money at stake here, not helped by the currency going into free fall. Unless you have fixed rate loans, most are not, interest rate plus a percentage, the borrowings from outside the group will be more expensive.

I still think that despite the lack of results and some poor displays under Rob, the SD left the club woefully exposed to injuries or lack of form. When you get a decent left back on your books, to have to play him on the right because you failed to find a replacement in time, is not the fault of the coach under the current system.

It's no surprise people lose interest in professional football. You have to question the judgment of someone who appoints a manager to do a job and decides 11 games later he wasn't the right person. Aside from the fact that I was a season ticket holder for 30 years I can't think of anything about the current state of the game that excites me. Premiership in the hands of dubious money, a World Cup in Qatar, and now there's another dreary international this evening in a competition that was created, I presume, just to make a few more millions. My excuse for losing interest is of course that I'm getting on a bit but I don't know how many of my grandchildren's generation are excited by football in the way that I was a child. Not many, I suspect!
