On the plus side you will have the 5th best possession stats in the whole of Europe behind Man City, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and a.n.other. On the minus side you will have very few points and a negative goal difference. Good luck!
Ultimately progression is down to the owners though. We'll see soon enough whether there's any real intent.
The run of only 3 wins in 21 Championship matches would, I believe, support that view given that we only missed out by 3 points
Yes apparently official now, done deal, good luck and get down to the hard work needed to get back up the top end.
Some extracts from Duff's statement “We need that one team mentality; the players, staff, fans, and board. Everyone needs to pull in the same direction because that’s the only way you’re going to achieve success,” said Duff. “I’ve had seven promotions in my career as a player and manager so I know what an environment should look and smell like. “I want to play good football and I know that there is an expectation of that at this football club, but it’s about evolving it, moving it and being a bit more on the front foot and a bit more progressive at times. “It’s about getting the balance of all those things because ultimately it’s a winning business. You’ve got to win.” And Duff feels there is already a lot in SA1 that he is able to build on with the players, style and infrastructure already in place. “I’ve come in with my eyes wide open in terms of the managers who have been here before,” he added. “If you look at my previous teams, you’ll see we’re aggressive and in your face, we’ll go and press but we look to play football as well. “I see a lot of good footballers and a lot of talent in the dressing room, so if we can add to that then I see an opportunity to do something. “There were lots of reasons I wanted to come to Swansea; the step up in level, but also the infrastructure that’s already at the football club, and speaking to the owners and the ambition they’ve got for the club it matches my own ambition. “My immediate aims are to get a helicopter view of the landscape and the players, physically and mentally. What do they look like? What is their attitude like? And that’s the same for all the staff too. "Ultimately, we want to walk out of pre-season with a fit group of players who are fresh. “Hopefully the supporters are as excited as I am. Hopefully we’re going to see some really good football which is a little bit more on the front foot. "We need the supporters as much as they need us and if we both turn up every week, then hopefully we’ll get more wins than losses.”
RM reportedly interested in Flynn Downes from West Ham. No surprise there then. Re-assembling Swansea City 2021 at St Mary's.
I thought it was just us that got the duff ones. Anyway, I hope he does well for you...within very strict limitations of course.
Fingers crossed. It's a fresh start so let's get going. I like that he wants the team to press as well as play good football, a good ethic as well as tactical.
In that he believes their BS? Duff will certainly be ambitious. I have a good feeling about Duff, I think we'll hit the ground running.
The past two years have been amongst the most enjoyable, and challenging, years of my life and professional career. My family have loved living in this wonderful city and being a part of this special football club. We will all miss the place and the people that we have gotten to know and who have welcomed us since the day we arrived. To the people in the club who have shared the journey with us on a daily basis, the players and the staff. I will be forever grateful and thankful for the way you embraced us, for your unwavering support and the trust you showed in us from the very beginning. Watching so many of the players grow both on and off the pitch, young men showing bravery through all the ups and downs fills me with immense pride and leaves me feeling excited for them in their careers as they progress. To the supporters who are always the most important people at any club. Thank you all for the support through thick and thin. I hope we gave you a team to be proud of and that you enjoyed watching. We will always have the Double ‘Doube’ which are undoubtedly amongst the best days of my career. My eldest son tells me repeatedly that the last Derby win was ‘the best day of my life by miles Dad!’ I know I will look back on my time at this club with nothing but love and affection for the people of Swansea and with deep gratitude for the support we were given throughout. I am excited to see where the next part of our journey takes us but I wanted to make sure I acknowledge the last two years and the positive impact it’s had for all of us. Diolch! Russ
