Pellegrini and Rodgers were both out thought, not sure you could say that about Mourinho and Wenger.

Mourinho in particular did his tried and tested formula of getting his players to surround the ref to get an opposing player sent off, getting a narrow lead, then shutting up shop. It was the players who bottled it, which is even more amazing given Chelsea's level of experience in defending narrow leads. If there was any team you'd expect to be able to hold onto a 1-0 and a 2-1 lead at home against 10 ten men it would be Chelsea.

I would have loved to have seen LVG's formations tested against the top European sides. Possibly we would have done as bad as everyone else but there was definite naivety in our top teams playing against the very best in Europe.

City were naive in playing against Barca but then Barca would have been a challenge to all our teams. Chelsea and Arsenal were stronger than PSG and Monaco respectively and lost when really on form they shouldn't have. The RS had an easy group and didn't even reach the knock out. Their raising of the white flag agianst Real even before the match by resting their top players was the "highlight" or lowlight of their campaign. Brenda was not only naive but a coward. the irony is that it didn't even help as they lost against Chelsea that week.

It was really disappointing but Chelsea and Arsenal should really have been in the next stage.

In the great Sterling or Walcott debate currently being discussed across both boards, some Liverpool fans feel that getting shot of Sterling wouldn't be such a bad idea and will do them no harm; meanwhile Arsenal fans seem to think a swap deal is out of the question as Walcott is (and I quote) "world class".

Sterling is more effective than Walcott. Both offensively and defensively. Losing sterling will be a massive blow to the RS. He really has them over a barrel <laugh>

Svengali Rodgers has handed all the power to Sterling's agent by saying that Sterling is the best young player in Europe. The agent's view will be that if Rodgers believes that to be the case then his client needs to be paid accordingly. Every time that fool Rodgers makes one of his grand, knee jerk, over the top statements it's obvious that it's going to bite him in the arse eventually. He's a deluded idiot. So he's perfect for Liddypool.

He is one of life's great optimists. Sometimes it is better to be more down beat.
 
On Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers:
"I speak to Brendan on good terms. He calls me when he needs to talk to me and I can talk to him when I want. There's nothing bad to say or think about Brendan. He's been really good to me since I came into the team and he's always tried to help me."

Can't remember the last time I heard a footballer refer to a manager by their first name in an interview. No wonder Liverpool have such problems with their players leaving - Rodgers would rather be their mate than their manager...
 
Pretty sure I've heard Terry and Lampard calling him Jose. We know they're small but surprised at Livpl that happens.
 
I feel a little sorry for Sterling.

I accept that football is right in our face and everyone has an opinion but every time I turn the radio on (Talk sport) there's someone on there offering their opinion on him and what he should do when it's absolutely none of their ****ing business. It's his job and how much he should get and where he should work is being discussed on a continuous loop, from Stan Collymore to Ray Wilkins, and most of them are quite simply guessing about what he really thinks. It's none of their business, he should tell them, bluntly, to **** right off.

Perhaps it's not greed, perhaps he just hates his job and working environment and wants to work elsewhere, God know's we've probably all been there in our lives. He might just think his boss is a compete prick.

He also might well be being a greedy git, trying to get what he can when he can. Well, that's his prerogative in trying to make himself a living. He no doubt knows he's not worth the money so is going to have it when he can, can't blame him for that.

People should stop being shocked by what footballers are paid and how much they want, it's just gone way beyond that now.

Only heard them referring to him as that after he'd left, and now after Lampard has left. I think Terry still refers to him as 'the manager' in interviews this season.

And tbh there is a world of difference between the club captain doing it, after years of loyal service to the club, and a 20 year old lad doing it in the context of justifying leaving the club.

My thoughts exactly.

Everyone seems to have this view that he 'owes' Liverpool something for bringing him through. They didn't do it out of the good of their own hearts, they did it because they think he will win them games. Anyone who thinks Liverpool will be loyal to him if he stops being one of their best players should go and ask Jay Spearing for his opinion.

He's got to look out for his own career, same as anyone. Liverpool certainly only have his own best interests at heart to the extent to which his interests will support their interests.

Tbf our latest comparisons to this situation were with Pogba and Morrison and while I had the balanced and well-considered opinion of "fck em" I also think that as a fan, and someone who believes "if you're good enough you'll make it" I think it's fair enough to discuss whether the player is making the right decision or not. Also his interview today hasnt helped his cause in keeping the issue quiet or stopping others from commenting more about it. Have to say though, I really couldnt give less of a fck.
