Wouldn't say it's a really poor CL, but it is a very odd one this year. All the top sides running away with the major European leagues seem to have utterly failed to show up in the CL barring Bayern.
City are flying and near unbeatable in the PL yet they got battered, same with PSG in Ligue 1. Utd consistently second in the PL and canned by Sevilla. Barca got done 3-0 by Roma and Juve by Real. Atletico and Napoli are the only other sides who could feasibly win La Liga or Serie A and they didn't even get out of the groups. Porto also got battered by Liverpool.
Bayern are the only club remaining in the draw who will win their domestic league, and they've hardly been spectacular in Europe this season and now look to be going out. Roma and Liverpool aren't yet even guaranteed to quality for the CL next year!
Can anyone tell me the last time there was a CL final where neither of the finalists were even close to competing for their domestic title? Actually don't, I've got a horrible feeling it was probably 2005
