There's not a lot of difference between a 4-4-2 with one striker coming deep and a 4-2-3-1.
Our main problem is the inverted winger issue. The whole thing's far too narrow.

Inverted wingers with effective fullbacks works fine. But especially down the right we don't have the width needed from those positions to make it work. So adaptation is needed rather than shoehorning players into a system <ok>

I think Walker coming back will make a big difference. He and Lennon in tandem were quite effective before. Hopefully, they can be again.

It depends whether you believe the pundits that say you need to cross the ball to create chances. I have a strong suspicion that actually crosses lose the ball 99% of the time and only create goals the other 1% so that in the long run the inverted wingers will work best.

Loads of empty seats at Villa Park tonight.

I think that's becoming pretty normal.
Poor quality, boring football for Lambert's reign, they haven't won a game for two months and it's a Monday night game against a side in good form.
The Premier League's suffering from it as a whole, I think, but I suspect that Villa fans would be staying away a little, regardless.

Webb's comments earlier on MNF were interesting. He agreed with the refs to the point where even Carragher and Neville looked a bit exasperated. Just reminded me why I dislike him so much.

I didn't think he came across very well. For someone who has had enormous experience with dealing with top athletes at the highest level on a sometimes confrontational basis, he seemed to struggle to make eye contact when talking to Carragher and Neville. It was a pity they ran out of time with him because I got the feeling Nevlle was keen to continue to put him on the spot.

I don't think that the ref can really be blamed, as he didn't see it. He had to go with what the linesman told him and I can understand why he thought it was a red.

1-0 to Villa. Agbonlahor. That'll surprise a few people, including me! <laugh>
He's now their joint-top scorer with 3, along with Weiman. Their next highest scorer is... er, nobody. They've only got six in 11 and a bit games. Poor.

Villa half-season tickets are available from the low, low price of only £240, if anyone's thinking of Christmas and they know someone in the Midlands that they don't like.

Lambert's decided that he doesn't like his job, so he's brought on Darren Bent to help protect a 1-0 lead.

Weimann's miss came back to haunt him. Sometimes I wonder why he's still at Villa but then he does something like that to remind me. Draw was fair enough overall, Okore looked good at the back and they defended well in general but they're not going to win many playing so conservatively.

I don't find myself asking why I dropped him from my fantasy team weeks ago.
