    Nasri said that City might lose a few players if they crash out of Europe. We could do worse than loaning in Fernandinho come January...true, we could also do a lot better, but Dinamo Zagreb are saying Brozovic will cost us even though he's unproven outside the HNL, while I doubt the likes of Bilbao, Lille or Saint Etienne will be needing to offload players in January if they fail to reach the next stage of European competition.

    You know better than me but I'm not sure where he's supposed to stand there, with the Bayern players extending the wall he'd have had to stand on the far post to get a clear view of the ball. I thought it was just clever from Bayern. Real turning point, up until then City seemed to be doing well, closing down and nick the ball off Bayern but after the confidence goes and they're losing.

    The freekick reminded me of what I was pleased about seeing with our game on Sunday as we put players in the wall for our close range freekicks. Didn't do us much good but they didn't do it against Stoke which really annoyed me.

    I blame his positioning for the second as well.

    Poor Joe can't get a break with you :D

    Out of interest, if City lose this, beat Roma and Bayern beat CSKA does anyone know how it's decided who goes through?

    Do what works. In my incredibly inefficient tracking, our success correlates very strongly with the degree to which Pochettino dumps the 4-2-3-1 inverted winger system in favor of a 4-4-2 with "regular" wide players.

    It's all very well to say what works in theory, and what will work eventually, but things continuing to not work now will have so many negative knock-on effects it should be avoided at nearly any cost, IMO.

    I also think we don't and will not for the conceivable future have the resources necessary to get the players to make the 4-2-3-1 work. Using it and losing will do nothing but give us fewer resources.

    WARNING: BUREAUCRACY

    1.) Higher number of points obtained in the group matches played among the teams in question;
    2.) Superior goal difference from the group matches played among the teams in question;
    3.) Higher number of goals scored in the group matches played among the teams in question;
    4.) Higher number of goals scored away from home in the group matches played among the teams in question;
    5.) If, after applying criteria 1 to 4 to several teams, two teams still have an equal ranking, criteria 1 to 4 are reapplied exclusively to the matches between the two teams in question to determine their final rankings. If this procedure does not lead to a decision, criteria 6 to 8 apply;
    6.) Superior goal difference from all group matches played;
    7.) Higher number of goals scored from all group matches played;
    8.) Higher number of coefficient points accumulated by the club in question, as well as its association, over the previous five seasons.

    So based on that...
    1.) N/A
    2.) Based on that scenario, City
    3.) As it stands, Roma
    4.) As it stands, CSKA Moscow

    Based on that, City would squeak through. Just.

    Well aren't you Mr Helpful tonight :D Thanks again <ok>

    Not sure what to do, had a tenner on Sporting and Barca winning by 3 or more but the cash out(which is back) is only £26 at the moment with Barca winning theirs and Sporting 2 short thanks to conceding an own goal at the end of the first half.

    **** it, all or nothing, hopefully Sporting get their game going again at somepoint.

    City would be rubbish this season without Aguero.
    Neuer should be off now, though. What's the point in booking a keeper for timewasting if you're never going to show him another for doing the same? He's totally taking the piss.

    Aguero is such a great player, City haven't been great but this half but they've worked very hard and Aguero's one of the few players that can beat Neuer 3 times in a match.

    Sporting game will resume \o/

    Terrific display of state of the art finishing by Aguero. I wish we had one half as good.

    City got Bayern at home at just the right time with them having won the group after 4 games. They've been very fortunate with results in this group. Roma away may yet prove a bridge too far.

    Liverpool have been poor too, but look set to be thrown a lifeline by Real Madrid's dominance as well.

    And that way it finished :( Sporting had at least 7/8 chances to score another but fluffed a couple of sitters and Handanovic made a good save with the very last touch of the game. Ah well, the bet made it good entertaintment at least.
