Why the "slap-head" response.

I'm telling you, as an expert, what view the law takes of these things.

Ignoring a court ban is considered by our criminal courts to be a contempt of court, for which the automatic sentence is imprisonment. The sentence will be anywhere between 6 weeks to 3 months, depending on whether or not there were any genuine mitigating factors. Being an arrogant wealthy asshole who believes he's above the law is not generally considered to be a mitigating factor. He'll only escape prison if there is some reason why he should not be sent to jail, but as they generally tend to be things like "serious medical conditions," jail (as opposed to community service) is the likely sentence.

I have never heard of a court sentencing an offender to community service, where he has ignored a driving ban. Be under absolutely no illusion that the courts consider this behaviour to be far worse than many offences that you and I would consider more heinous, and they will readily release a burglar early to make room for Tevez in our over-crowded system. The burglar, at least, will have served some time for his crimes, and our legal system considers it better to let him out earlier rather than to give offenders such as Tevez (who openly laugh at the system) the idea that they can escape prison merely because they are (a) rich and (b) famous. If anything, his being rich and famous makes it more likely that he'll be thrown in pokey for longer, to serve as an example to the scroats who might look up to him, if he escapes the proper punishment.
 
I expect Tevez to get some sort of sentence that doesn't actually mean jail time, like house arrest and a tag.
He may get something minimal as a gesture though, plus community service and a fine.
That's assuming that he's found guilty.

It'll be interesting to see what happens if he tries to transfer abroad in the summer with this hanging over him.
 
I agree with HIAG. Driving while disqualified is usually an automatic prison sentence. I actually think Tevez is more likely to get one because of who he is. The Judge will not want to be accused of letting him off lightly.

Personally I hope the Judge is a Falkalnds veteran who lost a couple of mates there and saw what a few Argies did - and then locks him up for life.

PNP, if he is found guilty of driving whilst disqualified, he will go to jail.

I have never known of an offender not being sent to prison for this offence.

The offence is not considered to be a "mere driving offence," but the far more serious "contempt of court." The courts treat this offence very seriously, and are unlikely to grant anything other than a prison sentence. Why would they be lenient, when you have shown yourself to be the kind of person who treats the courts with contempt?

He will escape jail only if there is some extraordinary mitigating factor. Usually, that is a medical condition which would be worsened under jail conditions, but that is extremely unlikely to apply to Tevez. I have known courts to imprison an offender even where he had a new baby about to be born, and it proven that he would lose his job, which would cause suffering to his family. The judge's attitude was, "well, you should have thought about that before, so don't use them as an excuse, now."

The courts show a brutal lack of sympathy or pity to those who show contempt for our criminal system.

On the one hand they'd have less games to play, but on the other it could hurt their confidence even more than it already has been.

Had we lost 2-0 or worse, confidence would have been at an all time low, this should help galvanise the team. It's the first time the players have pulled their finger out and played for the manager and more importantly... themselves.

Annoying thing is fixture pile up means inevitable changes and momentum lost.

Tevez is banned from driving for a series of offences, if he choses to flout the ban then he should be punished within the law. By ignoring his ban he's not accepting the punishement and there's no reason for him to correct what he did wrong. If anyone thinks that's unfair they can piss off to Clarksonia where the life expectancy is half because everyone's allowed to drive like a dick.

The FA cup is the FA cup and matches are notoriously difficult to predict.

So what do we reckon,6 points coming up against Fulham and Swansea? We just need to win again and we'll go again. It was a penalty which did it don't forget.

Believe me now about Defoe,total waste of a shirt.

Disagree TMT, 4-2-3-1 benefits the 3 behind the striker more than the striker himself, Defoe is better playing off another man. We're experiencing the same problems ourselves, Ba ineffectual in the 4-2-3-1 role. If AVB can guide you to top 4 it should allow you to buy replacements for Modric/VDV which can allow you to be more expansive with the formation and get the best out of all your players.
 
I said Ba went to the wrong club and now you admit he's ineffectual. Defoe doesn't do anything off any man and has become so desperate to score that he's being selfish.

Even RVP would struggle to score in a 4-2-3-1. Ba went to a top 4 club, better than being at Newcastle IMO
 
Rumours coming out of Arsenal that Wilshere is out for the seaosn with ankle ligament damage. Decisive blow for Arsenal if true IMO.

Just seen this on twitter. Would never wish that on any player, but it's a massive boost for our top 4 hopes.

I'd go as far as to rule Arsenal out if Wilshere is injured. Spurs have plenty of winnable games left despite playing Chelsea and City back to back and all of Chelsea's games are winnable bar Liverpool or United away, but United is not a team I fear playing if we get a fair ref. Spurs proved that with fair refereeing they can be easily beaten/outplayed with such a weak midfield.
 
He's definitely out of their next two games, it seems. The press have picked up on it.
It's a shame to see a young player's career blighted by injury. Might allow Wenger to address the imbalance in their midfield in his absence, though.
