This is why I rarely watch football anymore. **** referees, players cheating blatently cheating and then trying to get others sent off and FIFA and UEFA doing nothing and letting this state of affairs carry on. Celtic could have had 2 penalties in this half and that Lichtsteiner lucky to be on the pitch.
Well surely one is the cause of the other?
Players these days have no respect/regard for the game and no sportsmanship/goodwill towards fellow pros.
If a player dives 10 times in one game, a referee is bound to get it wrong at least once.
When referees are missing leg breaking tackles/handballs then criticism is fair but otherwise it's hard to criticism them. Of course you get extremely incompetent refs like Poll, Foy, Anthony Taylor and Clattenburg but they are in the minority.
Get down to a non-league game and you'll see real **** refs.
1 away goal in a 1-1 draw isn't great for United, 2nd leg's not going to finish 0-0 is it! 2-2 and its Real, actually if Real score twice thats game over imo.
They're still in the tie and even kick off with themselves ahead on aggregate so I make that a great result.
1-1 in the away leg effectively makes this a one-off cup tie for Utd with home advantage. Away goals are only a factor if Real score two or more- if they do, then there will be no complaints if that is enough for them to go through. I'll settle for a home game with nothing to make up from the first leg. Who wouldn't?
I saw enough last night to suggest Real's defence is a serious Achilles heel. With Utd having more possession higher up the pitch and with a threat at set pieces from the likes of Evans, Welbeck, Vidic and (strangely) Evra, I can't see Real scraping a 1-0 win. There will be goals. 3-2 to Utd perhaps?
It will be far from easy for Utd, but there it could have been a lot tougher (and we could have been facing tougher opponents than Real,I think).
