... aah ignore me im fukin stoned tonite

I've just got back from Tesco with 8 bottles of the best cream stout. On special offer, £12 for the lot.

Anyone else like Marston's Oyster Stout?

Nectar of the gods, I'm telling you!

Why take the risk of derailing efforts to win the PL through injuries or fatigue?

In which case, why risk playing the likes of Rooney, Ferdinand, Evra, De Gea, Giggs, Carrick, Young, etc?
You put out a very strong team and you lost. You're just making excuses, in my opinion.

Spot on, Smart. I would normally say that I would want my team to win every competition they enter, but I didn't want them to win the EL. The truth is that Utd didn't want it, City didn't want it and if you look back to the end of last year, you'll remember that Spurs didn't want it either.

Its quite sad really, isn't it.

UEFA need to have a re-think about the competition and decide what it is and who it's for. It's not for failed CL clubs.

Very true.
The dropdown devalues the competition completely.
Remove that and sort out the financial aspect of it and it'd be restored to some level of respectability.

Beaten home and away by a technically good, hard working side who attacked them without fear and didn't compromise their own team philosophy.

United still have a psychological hold over a lot of clubs in this country, so people are afraid to go at them.
Now that Fletcher's out through his unfortunate condition, they don't even have a player in their midfield with much tackling ability and the likes of Giggs and Scholes can't match a high tempo for 90 minutes.
Despite their lofty league position, Ferguson must know that he's got some work to do in the summer.

5 goals conceded to a side who are not in the same class as Barca and Real. For me, it, once again, says it all about the alarming decline in defensive proficiency amongst Premiership clubs.

Do rugby union still have a play off between the top 2 teams for the league title? That was/is particularly ridiculous.

I think they have play offs to decide the winner where the top 4-5 clubs get in it and then compete. Not sure though <ok> It is a resonable idea. To be honest sport is about entertainment first and foremost.

But it wouldn't be right for Spurs or Arsenal to win the league, despite being 15 points behind at the end of the season?

Why not? Does it matter? Why should a team win a title just because they can churn out results against bolton at home. Surely doing it in the big games against good teams when the pressure is on is what sport is all about?

Thats why the 100m gold medal goes to the guy who wins the final and not the guy who has run quickest on average over the whole year. I think a 2 legged final in football could be a nice comprimise. Just imagine the atmosphere at those games <ok>

player's would not bother after afew times losing inthe "final",after doing the hard work through the season then having to play a final to win it they'd say sod this for a game of soldiers

By doing that you're mixing league and cup formats. It works far better for domestic tournaments as it is now with one league format competition and one (major) cup format competition. In the league it's about being the best team over a 9 month season where as the cup is about winning a series of games in a row.
