I've just got back from Tesco with 8 bottles of the best cream stout. On special offer, £12 for the lot. Anyone else like Marston's Oyster Stout? Nectar of the gods, I'm telling you!
In which case, why risk playing the likes of Rooney, Ferdinand, Evra, De Gea, Giggs, Carrick, Young, etc? You put out a very strong team and you lost. You're just making excuses, in my opinion.
Very true. The dropdown devalues the competition completely. Remove that and sort out the financial aspect of it and it'd be restored to some level of respectability.
5 goals conceded to a side who are not in the same class as Barca and Real. For me, it, once again, says it all about the alarming decline in defensive proficiency amongst Premiership clubs.
I can think of no other sport where failure is rewarded. Same with play-offs for me, for 3rd place to lose out to 6th just makes a mockery of a seasons hard work. A massive to all of it!
had the experience twice with Sutton, finished seond place in the league, then beaten in a one off play-off game
Do rugby union still have a play off between the top 2 teams for the league title? That was/is particularly ridiculous.
I think they have play offs to decide the winner where the top 4-5 clubs get in it and then compete. Not sure though It is a resonable idea. To be honest sport is about entertainment first and foremost.
But it wouldn't be right for Spurs or Arsenal to win the league, despite being 15 points behind at the end of the season?
Why not? Does it matter? Why should a team win a title just because they can churn out results against bolton at home. Surely doing it in the big games against good teams when the pressure is on is what sport is all about? Thats why the 100m gold medal goes to the guy who wins the final and not the guy who has run quickest on average over the whole year. I think a 2 legged final in football could be a nice comprimise. Just imagine the atmosphere at those games
player's would not bother after afew times losing inthe "final",after doing the hard work through the season then having to play a final to win it they'd say sod this for a game of soldiers
By doing that you're mixing league and cup formats. It works far better for domestic tournaments as it is now with one league format competition and one (major) cup format competition. In the league it's about being the best team over a 9 month season where as the cup is about winning a series of games in a row.
Well then we can all join forces and cheer for benfica in a few weeks then. Me and you on the same side totsfan!
If they finish 5th, yeah. I don't think even the most optimistic Chelsea fan believes they'll win it though.
I will be sure to make a cross board thread on it. Probably for the quarters but if they get to the semis then we will seriously be on the same side
