There's also the minor detail that London itself would be worse off if the Scammers drop: their rent would drop from £4.4m a year in the PL to £1.9m a year in the Championship, while policing costs would increase as instead of policing 19 home league games instead it would be 23

Luckily our media didn't do something stupid like midwife the sociopathic ****wit who agreed that deal into Downing Street...

And the other minor detail which is that the London taxpayer will have to cover the deficit you mention, not West Ham.

Massive massive round of applause for Boris Johnson for that. Absolutely not corrupt, no sir.

It’s because the law has a subjective element. Which is the problem when enforcing many laws.

There was no question that it was handball.

Had Mbeumo scored, it would have been disallowed, but because another player (Cunha) did, the issue was whether the handball was accidental or not.

From one angle, it looked as though he’d used his arm to control the ball. From the opposite angle, it looked as though he was pulling his arm away from the ball.
It’s entirely subjective whether you interpret that as accidental or not. Only the ref’s opinion counted.

If you don’t want Utd to score, you’ll scream blue murder; if you want Utd to score, you’ve got an argument to support your case.

3-1 now and the result masters little either.
PGMOL say the goal should have been disallowed - which is fair enough - but it doesn’t really address the issue.
The law gives the power to the ref to make a subjective decision in these particular circumstances as to whether the handball was accidental or not. If it was accidental, the goal should stand.
But how can they then undermine the ref by criticising the subjective judgement they allowed him to make?
He was not bound to follow the equally subjective referral made by VAR. He could have decided the issue the other way and been criticised for that. Who’d be a ref?
If you make laws which allow for subjectivity, you won’t get consistency.
Why not just make a law which says that any handball in the build up means the goal is disallowed?

That would be United relegated then.<laugh>

Sorry, I am. I know you guys think you can turn it around ….. but I’ve seen W ham
You obviously haven't seen enough of us!! <laugh>
Even if it came down to goal difference on the final day I am sure we would be able to squander that 12 goal difference!! <doh>

For what it's worth I have far more faith in Leeds turning the Spammers over than I have in our lot doing the necessary. :emoticon-0148-yes:

Hmm I don’t know how to break this to you but we were very very lucky v Brighton, on the beach -itis has set in. On the other hand, W Ham are useless so maybe it will be ok.

No idea how havertz not sent off! Exactly the same as Xavi earlier in the season.

Saka spending more time on the ground whinging than he does playing football as usual to.
