That's how it works. Hoodwink the gullible that it's not working and that by privatising it, you'll save money...despite the need to pay an extra 20% (minimum) every year to those who take the risk of investing in an essential service, with no competition.

Of course, you're right. The massive exodus of officers between 10-20 years service over the last few years has left things in a really poor state. When the last of those officers with 25 years plus, like Mrs B, leave the service, there's going to be real problems.

Not sure that Johnson made that call as she was appointed Commissioner in 2017 after he left office. She was a Deputy under his watch though.
And that would account for just the Met. All Forces were decimated from 2011 onwards for 7 or 8 years!
Remember he turfed out Ian Blair, and it does have to be said Dicks career trajectory was practically vertical once the randy Honey Monster was Mayor
