Darren Grimes has been suspended by Gopher Blancmange News for this I wonder if he's going to bleat about being "cancelled"...?
Thankfully nobody is exploiting The Queen's death for his own ends ...apart from Penny Mordaunt supporters saying how Prime Ministerial she sounded yesterday ...and Liz Truss sneaking out her campaign donations when it was time to bury bad news ...or Farage and Dan Woottoonn tweeting a clearly staged video of him "grieving" ...or the Daily Wail and Gazelle Buttcrack News going completely apeshit with their anti-Meghan schtick
I completely forgot about this one... "We're not racist, we put the dark one on top of the ballot!" is not the genius comeback you think it is, Dicolas. In fact it sounds like you put him there to try and pretend you're not racist...
Just seen it’s been made official that Arsenal-PSV won’t be going ahead because of a shortage of police in preparation for the funeral on Monday. Can someone please explain why, if the funeral is on Monday, we can’t have police ready for a Thursday night fixture? Genuine question because I don’t understand this.
Up until yesterday, the line was that it was up to UEFA/the FA as to what games were going ahead and that The Met would cope, if the games went ahead. Met officers have already had all leave cancelled (as well as training and other non-operational duties) and are already working 12 hour shifts - my Mrs has worked nearly 100 hours in the last 7 days. It's very likely that other forces will be brought in for the funeral, but that's not something that can happen on an ongoing basis, on normal working days. I know that there's real concern regarding the huge number of people expected to come into London to pay their respects to the late Queen (which is 24 hours a day, for 5 days straight, from Wednesday) and the raised terrorist threat and huge congestion on all transport that will result from that . The sheer number of PSV fans, many likely to be without tickets, may have been viewed as just one thing too many to cope with. I'd not be surprised if games (particularly PL ones) in London on Saturday and Sunday didn't go ahead for the same reason. Postponing all games over the last weekend was daft considering the likelihood of more this week and the lack of time to fit in rearranged dates. Make no mistake, police numbers are an issue on a daily basis, with high priority areas significantly understaffed, mostly with officers with little experience.
Thanks for explaining, Brian. I do completely sympathise with the police in terms of having funding cut, officers not being trained properly and being overworked. It's a huge shame that this government have consistently taken measures to make the country less safe. Youth facilities slashed, police funding slashed, crime has unsurprisingly gone up and everyone points the fingers at the wrong person/people... Your explanation has reinforced my belief that our taxes shouldn't be going toward this massive state funeral and that there shouldn't be this much commotion over a 96 year woman dying. Especially when it's clear that we're struggling to cope with managing the numbers anyway. Insane.
