If money had to be spent to ensure that the regions had
their own big stadium, rather than Wembley or nothing, so be it..

Prior to the rebuild, they didn't.

The exception in modern times was the 1991 NLD SF.
The supporters for both clubs would be travelling together
on trains, to go to a geo neutral venue.

The policing concerns made Wembley the better option.
The money the FA would make from a full house game
no doubt helped a little bit too.
 
I think that the obvious solution is to play it at a ground that's roughly halfway between the teams.

Was it because I offered to buy the club for a tenner, or was it because I said the club's policy would be accepting any bids from Tottenham for their players to see just how quickly I can create a local derby with Fulham in the Championship?
