Also, I think you're underestimating the value of Ramsey; 27 years old, at his peak, box-to-box midfielder, clear goal threat, technically skilled. Even with just over a year left on his remaining deal, I can confidently say we would get more than £20m for him. He is a player that would be in high demand.
The only way we wouldn't is if we do a direct swap with another club. Or if he chooses to move abroad in 7 months time, but he doesn't strike me as the type of player that would want to leave England. Anyway, let's not forget the players that will, in all likelihood, be leaving by Summer 2018. Lucas Perez, Carl Jenkinson, Joel Campbell, Chuba Akpom, Danny Welbeck...this will definitely ease some of the financial burden when it comes to salaries.
Emery essentially has a 'free hit' next season as the expectations won't be too high. Although the objectives will obviously be to get back into the Champions League, he will also have the excuses of it being his first season, with a squad that, for the most part, isn't his own choice, he needs time to implement his footballing ideals onto this group of players, less money compared to the other clubs etc...if the fans get on board with his vision and we can see he clearly has a plan for what he's trying to achieve, I think he'll be given more time than you think. We just want to see some ambition and progressivism that we've not seen for many years now.
