Chelsea have great players but just not enough of them. Conte's an excellent manager as he showed in his first season but the addition of European football this season meant they couldn't cope on all fronts. Look beyond their first XI and they really aren't strong.

Arsenal just have too many poor players, even in their XI. Cech (due to age catching up on him), Bellerin, Mustafi, Xhaka and Wilshere aren't good enough to play in any of the other top 6 side's XI yet are mainstays for them.
Mustafi and Wilshere I agree with, can't make my mind up on Xhaka, I think he is a useful squad player. Bellerin just needs discipline to make him aware of the danger of turnover of possession.

Like I said, opinions.
Managers can make a massive difference to the way individual players perform as you say, I think both Arsenal and Chelsea have the players to perform much better than they have this season (like us probably).

Most new managers take a season to assess what they've got and what they need. Mauricio Pochettino did and then kicked 10+ players out and finished third. Pep turned up, found his defence wasn't up to it and had to improve his lot...Klopp the same. I just can't see that group of players, with a manager new to the league, finishing above any of United, Liverpool and Spurs. Those 3 clubs should be stronger again next season. All of them.

Emery is a huge difference to what Arsenal's players are used to. He's a meticulous planner and is going to make demands of players. many of whom just aren't used to that approach. Some will rise to it, others aren't going to like it much. It'll take a season to sort out who is going to stay and who is going to move on. I reckon a lot of them will be gone before the second season.

Conte's first season was different. Essentially, he had what was a title winning side with no European football to get in the way of the PL games and really, it was a freak outcome for a newly appointed coach. If that team had actually tried in the previous season, there's no way Mourinho would have been sacked by Chelsea.

Personally think Bellerin is horrendous, the only thing that makes him attractive to clubs is his speed. Can't defend, can't cross and has zero footballing intelligence.

Xhaka just looks like a useless oaf to me. I don't understand what his game is. Is he meant to be defensive? Attacking? Bit of both? Just seems poor in all aspects.

I don't follow other teams players so couldn't care less about them.Following Spurs is enough to worry about,in my opinion!
So here's hoping we don't get off to a slow start next season and not showing up or conking out in the cupties!!! The players must know this.
.....and if Harry can start scoring in August instead of September,he could set another record......if the World Cup doesn't destroy him!

I'll take that avatar wager.

Chelsea to finish above you boys next season.

How long for 3 months?

Agreed. Xhaka is useless. Their central midfield is in general.

Quite like bellerin. He's been poor this season but I thought he's generally pretty good and has the full package if he was trained properly.

I would take him

what do you fancy mate, a picture of terry holding a trophy or a picture of sol holding a trophy? <whistle>

just doing it for a laugh, no idea who chelsea are going to buy, no idea who the next manager is, the squad is looking a bit patchy. May the best man win :P

You're a sadistic **** to think of those two!

Gonna be an interesting window, especially now the deadline's changed for the better, no more panic buys from the rich if things don't get off to the best of starts. I'm hoping we go into the season with a bit of momentum, new stadium should get the lads buzzing and once we've secured the signings of Bale, Seri, de Ligt, Sessegnon and Immobile, we should be looking sweet <whistle>
