Agree but there's no way he would have wanted those fixtures that close together. He now loses his players to International duty then before you know it 12.45pm KO away at WBA then after that it's straight into that horrid run of 4 games in 9 days. Vidic/Ferdinand can barely cope with 1 game a week never mind 3 (potentially) and it isn't worth thinking about what the attacking players of City and Pool could do to Smalling and Evans.

This is why it benefits everybody to have a strong league and the gap between the best and worst sides to be as small as possible.

I still maintain that the 1998/99 and 2010/11 seasons were the best I've seen. Literally anybody could beat anybody on any given day.
 
The FA Cup seems to be doing most damage on fixture congestion (with 3 of the PL top 7 still in it) .
Even with continued UEFA involvement, Spurs will have their "six pointers" done and dusted by April.

A Baggies-supporting friend of mine is going to the United game, back in his home-town, and he is hopeful of getting a result!

That was never the case prior to Moyes taking over.

What has happened at United is an utter disaster, by whatever standard you care to hold out.

They never used to schedule PL games on same weekend as FA Cup but that just shows how devalued it is. The (anticipated) big games were all deliberately pencilled in over the Christmas period (November/December) when bums were on sofas and as far away from May as possible. They didn't want another 2006/07, 2008/09, 2011/12 & 2012/13 type scenario where half of the big games were all meaningless as sides had nothing to play for.
 
DL, you any idea what has happened to Oscar and his form? as It can't be solely due to him being tired as he looks disinterested even after a rest.

The disappointing thing is the lack of character and fight. Usually we could rely on not only being better than opposition, but outbattling them too. Last season the team was not the best in terms of ability (ageing defence, lack of midfielder enforcer and playmaker) but was still streets ahead when it came to motivation, desire, will to win etc.

I can only hope that this is one poor season of transition. Spending big in the summer is essential - and will be the real test for Moyes. If Mourinho had been appointed, that money would have been spent last summer. The criticism of him would have been his desire to stamp his mark on the team too quickly and to do too much too soon - but with hindsight, that is just what was needed.

Moyes apologists defended the domestic form because they said the sides around them are better (despite losses to Sunderland, Swansea and Stoke) but when Olympiakos came out the hat it was unanimously agreed by all and sundry that it was the easiest draw possible for any team and a "fantastic opportunity for Moyes" to progress.

When even a team like Olympiakos believe they can beat Man U after selling their best player then the game is well and truly up. Olympiakos wouldn't have had a prayer against City, Chelsea or Arsenal over two legs but they will take United all the way and are now favourites to progress. United have never won a game by a 3 goal margin under Moyes and now have to do so to progress knowing that if they concede even once the tie is as good as over.

This proves Suarez never saw the goons as a big club, although the goons should be investigated to find out who told them about the clause. Quite a few of the goon fans believed if they had bid 10 million more they would have signed Suarez and won the title, Suarez was only interested in moving to Madrid/Barca or Munich, but now Liverpool have benefited and they are likely to have him for another season as Barca have Neymar and Messi. Madrid have Bale & Ronaldo and Munich have signed Lewandowski for next year.

A short while ago you said you were in your twenties, mid twenties I think, so you're asking us to give credence to your opinion of what you saw in the 98/99 season at the age of approximately 10???

I said when they bought Ozil,he wouldn't help them win the title,and the goons would struggle to make top 4,and it gives me great pleasure to see it coming true

I don't think that is accurate about why Harry was sacked. Harry had the strongest squad the club ever had in the PL and did very well with it but his own obsession with the England job led him to mess up badly with us towards the end. It was also clear that we were going to lose Bale and the squad would need massive restructuring and Harry really isn't to be trusted with £100m of spend. In a few year's time it will be apparent that the real mistake was sacking AVB. In his first season he had to contend with the loss of King, Modric, Kaboul and Sandro and this season people have massively under-estimated the difficulty with getting so many new signings to gel together. His only real mistake was to alienate Adebayor who seems to have given him little choice.
 
For me, the real mistake was hiring AVB in the first place. He's way too dogmatic and fixed in his ideas. He also had us playing some of the most tedious, boring football I've seen from a Spurs team in over half a century!

We have only to look at the job Rodgers has done at L'pool or even Martinez at Everton, to see that there were far better options.
